Roy Jones Jr Vs Felix Trinidad (BOXING) 1/19/07
Madison Square Garden, New York, Ny

    Roy Jones Jr -430
    Felix Trinidad +340

Let's get some discussion on this one guys. Trinidad is rusty not having fought for a couple years, while R. Jones Jr. has been active. I'm thinking of backing Felix in this one. What do you think?

    Damn that +340 looks solid..

    Roy Jones isn't anything special.

Roy's way too big for Trinidad. Tito doesn't have a chance. It's not necessarily the year and a half off that will hurt Trinidad (although that won't help), but the added weight. Tito's a natural weltwerweight/junior middleweight whose never fought above 160 lbs. Now he's fighting at 170 against a much bigger guy. Tito never had a solid chin to begin with, and because he's such a technically flawed fighter this fight could/should end early. One left hook from Roy that lands flush and this fight's over.

      RJJ via mid-round stoppage.

I'll probably wait for the Jones KO prop.

As someone who has every RJJ fight on DVD, I can tell you that this is right on.

I'll be all over the RJJ KO prop bet as well, though I hope Tito talks some smack and gets the line down a little. A flood of money on the underdog would be nice in a case where the dog has probably a 4-5% chance of winning. This is a mismatch of epic proportions, on par with Mayweather-Gatti (which I stated at the time and was subsequently mocked on here). This will be a beatdown. Remember, RJJ has fought and beat a heavyweight title holder (even if it was John Ruiz) and he has pounded fighters much bigger than Tito. Tito will lose a lot of his quickness going up to 170 and if he's lucky enough to make it past 4-5 rounds, fatigue will set in. The only thing that could hurt Roy would be to come in with too tentative of a game plan and spend those first couple rounds "feeling out his opponent"--a tactic he has been prone to do, but not one that I would expect him to deploy against Tito. The only reason this one isn't a -600 or so is Tito's name, plain and simple. Just an epic mismatch and Roy will absolutely kill him.

To reiterate and sum up: Roy is bigger, faster, stronger, a better punch repertoire, and has been more active lately. This one is a cakewalk.

Agree Tito has little chance here, but I'll be rooting for him over that joker RJJ.

Roy SHOULD stop Tito, and he's been pretty adamant in promotion for the fight that he will do just that, but Roy's been reluctant to finish off opponents in the past when the opportunity was there, so who knows which RJJ will show.

I'll probably pass and go big on the Spinks decision prop over Phillips on the undercard, assuming I can get a respectable number (-170ish).
