I don't think anderson would beat the shit out of shogun. He is very much like machida and it would be interesting to see the matchup so it would be hard to call. Shogun had the perfect recipe for defeating a counterstriker which is what both machida and shogun excel at.

if you watched the first fight between these two you would have known shogun would win this inside the distance...

Didn't see something like that happened with Machida usually keeping max distance, but with his changed takedown strategy he left an opening that he probably wasn't comfortable defending. Shogun also added more explosive forward moving combos. While Shogun had a really good strategy the first time, it was hard to think he would come out with something new like this and do it so effectively.

Exactly, the winner of Evans/Rampge will most likely get the 1st shot at Rua, but after Silva takes care of Sonnen. Rua/silva

As said, he's always had his hands down. It's his style. Have you even watched his previous fights?

thats where you and a lot of other people were wrong.
Machida is a one trick pony his strength is counter striking and that didn't work to well for him in the first fight.
It wasn't Shogun who needed an amazing strategy to beat Machida it was Machida who needed an amazing strategy to beat Shogun... Shogun knew from the first fight Machida couldn't beat him with counters so he pressured Machida and broke him mentally; I think Machida prepared for the same strategy from Shogun you could tell he worked on switching stances to avoid damage he was in it for the long haul and it seemed like he was caught completely off guard when Shogun came after him...
Either way i'm glad the Machida hype is over... they guy didn't deserve it.

Machida can do one of two things now. break down and be the same fighter that Shogun easily beat and just rack up wins over far inferior opponents, or become something more and become a great explosive fighter with great counterstriking ability like an Anderson Silva.

anderson is nothing like machida--just because they like to counter doesn't make them the same

anderson has to beat sonnen, then belfort then he can move up. Dana said "I like guys to clean out a divison before moving up" Silva has some work to do still at 185

If you want to see someone throw a fight, watch Houston Alexander against Kimbo. If you want to see an ass kicking, watch Shogun vs. Machida II.

I hope not. Shogun has already beat the guy twice.
Maybe if it's a couple years down the road.

Rua vs. Silva is a good fight, but I think Sonnet is a worthy contender, he beat up Nate the great. Sonnet is a warrior, but I wouldn't bet against the spider ever!
