    Palhares vs Drwal
Ok sharps... I know this isn't one of the main attractions on Saturday's card, but I've long been a believer that Palhares is an under the radar stud -- really impressed me in his loss to Hendo, actually.

Now I'm having trouble loading Drwal's previous fights online to review, so I need some objective views on this fight, as I'm liking Palhares at -250 quite a bit initially.

    Who ya got and why?

I said it a previous post i love Drwal in this spot, got him at +215. He was strong at 205, and now at 185 will be tough. All he has to do is stay out of Palhares subs. He'll have a big reach advantage and is a decent striker, and with he wrestling skill i think he will be able to keep Palhares off him. I think this could play out the same way as Dan Hendersons fight with Palhares

I like Drwal. He should be able to keep it standing if he wants to. Decision victory if he can stay off the ground with Palhares.

ya drwal is the underdog im waiting on. About to settle on +210 but i definitely want to bite before the weigh-ins. I believe the size difference will drop drwals number some.

Damn, I'm gonna have to dig up some Drwal fights to watch 'cos that's 3 respectable opinions siding for Drwal... Good point about him dropping to MW for this... hmm, how will he handle the weight cut? James Irvin looked awfully sluggish with his tough cut to 185.

          Thanks for your feedback guys.

He's fought at 185 already. Fought McFedries at UFC 103 - made some money on it lol. He looked good in that, beat McFedries to the punch, got it to the ground and pull off a RNC in the 2nd. I'm also looking at a play on him, just havent bit yet. Like brooks said, he will have a big size advantage coming in around 5 inches taller than Palhares. Question is will Palhares be able to close the distance and get Drwal to his back where he is very uncomfortable.

i pretty much agree with the others, how does palharres get this down other than pulling guard. and is drwal's grappling that bad to warrant +215? i love the value here, his stand up isn't great but its well above palharres. palharres is a stud when its down, just not sure when or how it gets there.

So I did manage to load up the Drwal vs Mike C and Drwal vs Thiago Silva fights. (I can't get the Drwal vs McFedries to load anywhere.) Now I recognize the fights I watched of Drwal were at LHW, but I wasn't overly impressed. His striking was decent but nothing that floored me.

Another thing I noticed -- I'm not sure he's gonna have as big of a size / reach advantage as stats would indicate. Both he and Thiago Silva are listed at 6'1", and Thiago towered over him in their fight.

In watching Palhares vs Henderson and Horn, I thought Palhares displayed decent enough striking that will enable him to keep Drwal at bay; and he got both of those fights to the ground without pulling guard -- he actually hit a couple of wicked slams on both Hendo and Horn. Now, he did not manage to finish those fights, but those are savvy veterans so I'm not surprised.

I just don't think Drwal's stand-up is good enough to keep him from Palhares' grasp here, especially considering Palhares ate some Hendo shots.

I respect your guys' opinions, but am gonna have to go against the majority on this one. I've already got Palhares in a 0.5u parlay with Clay Guida from last week; and will probably add another play on Palhares (probably just 1u).

BOL to all of you regardless which side of this bet you are on. I appreciate you taking the time to offer insight.

Ive watched this fight a few times now over the past week and im backing off my drwal bet. Palhares arguably has the best grappling in the ufc and a granite chin. I think drwal might end up having to rely on the ref to stand the fight up. Palhares is so active thats prolly not going to happen.

Drwal is extremely strong tho, prolly palhares strongest opponent. So he will be able to create space on the ground for a scramble. But, i dont know if I like the odds of drwal scrabbling against heelhooking palhares.

However, drwal has only been submitted one time so this fight could easily go to a decision. The winning decision would all depend on what kool-aid the refs are drinking that night,
striking vs ground control and its no secret ground control usually wins.

Ton of value in drwal but i got enough money on the line so im just going to spectate.

because of the ease at which lucio took him down?

                      video shows drwals weakness imo

I think this is the key. He takes this fight down. Plus, he took some serious shots from Hendo. I dont think Drwal can finish him. And I am not sold on Drwal's cardio. Dont think he can last all three rounds without gassing and getting sub'd.

That's my thinking... Maybe I'm buying too much from the Henderson fight, but I just feel that is the best gage of how he should be able to handle Drwal as you mention.

I'm watching the weigh-ins live right now though, and Drwal DOES tower over Palhares height-wise. I still like the Tree Stump's odds
