Cain Velasquez vs Minotauro Nogueira at UFC 108
Awesome fight! Think the UFC is doing some safe guarding incase Lesnar can't fight till the Feb card as is the rumour right now.

Wow, as of right now, I have no idea who would win this fight. I was really hoping Big Nog was going to have a rematch with Mir. I think all Nog fans need that one to feel a little bit better, dude just wasn't himself that night.

this is a good fight but this "year end card" (Jan 2) isn't gonna have a big "buzz" fight. No title fights unless they make this Velasquez Nog an interm title fightbeing that Lesnar is sick.

      Cain Velasquez vs. Minotauro Nogueira
      Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
Junior dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
      Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley
      Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout

great fights right there, excited about every fight which usually isnt the case for me, If they could find some way to add a title fight this might be the card of the year

Hopefully Lesnar will get over the mono or whatever he has soon enough to be able to compete on this card, because it would make this one of the most complete cards the UFC has made.

well with the addition of Valasquez/Nog, i doubt Lesnar/Carwin is on this Card. If it is then there will be 3 huge heavyweight fights with arguably the UFC top 6 heavyweights

              Lesnar update:

              "Heavy.com reports:
Sources close to Brock Lesnar's camp informed Heavy.com tonight that Lesnar will not be able to participate in the postponed main event of UFC 108 against Shane Carwin.
Lesnar has battled an undisclosed illness for the past month that forced him to withdraw from a scheduled title defense against Carwin at UFC 106. The bout was rescheduled for UFC 108, but Heavy.com learned earlier this week that Lesnar has not recovered from the illness and cannot train at even a moderate page without quickly becoming exhausted.
A source close to the UFC confirmed the story while pointing out that Lesnar was never officially part of the UFC 108 card.
Word is, Lesnar has mononucleosis, not H1N1.
The question in my mind is whether or not the just-announced Cain Velasquez vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fight will be for an interim title.
The other thought is, what a drag for Shane Carwin."

Dunno brooks, Cain had Rothwell and Kongo in mount and lost the position everytime. Nog has some amazing sweeps from the bottom. Also, Cain flails his punches a lot with his ground and pound and he doesn't have the power to hurt Nog...could see some vintage Nog taking some punches to pull off a sub here I think.

I certainly hope so. It will definitely come down to cains sub defense because he is going to get the takedowns.

Well, whatever the line opens at, i personally think cain will be the favorite come fight time. I'd love to see the line for this fight do exactly what it did in the rodrigo/couture fight. Rodrigo opened as a clear favorite -160 and the public moved him too +170.

I still have some more data to gather(ufc 72-94) but opening favorites of -199 or less are 71-28. 71%
                        However, openers of -200 to -299 are 63-37. 63%

14 more events need to be added

if i can get cain as a dog im crushing it, big speed difference and unless cain has a bjj weakness(dave camarillo says cains bjj is good ) we dont know about he should beat up nog pretty good... that old school double wrist control bjj guard game nog plays isnt going to work against cain imo. would love to get cain as a dog, think he beats up nog on the feet and from top control...bad matchup for nog imo.

Well nogs wrist control is unmatchable, he has to vise grips for hands. Cains GnP is weak and his topcontrol, for some reason, isn't that great. Id just expect it too better for someone who lands about every td they attempt. Nog should have plenty of chances to pull off an armbar.

Today's officially announced UFC 108 headliner between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-5-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Cain Velasquez (7-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) will, in fact, determine a No. 1 contender.

The winner of that fight, which takes place Jan. 2, will meet the winner of UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin.
