They take a picture of each fighter when the fight is over.

Whoever is more busted up, has more visible signs of damage: loses.

Impact –
A judge shall assess if a fighter impacts their opponent significantly in the round, even though they may not have dominated the action. Impact includes visible evidence such as swelling and lacerations. Impact shall also be assessed when a fighter’s actions, using striking and/or grappling, lead to a diminishing of their opponents’ energy, confidence, abilities and spirit. All of these come as a direct result of impact. When a fighter is impacted with strikes, by lack of control and/or ability, this can create defining moments in the round and shall be assessed with great value.


Based on the scoring criteria, I don't consider the fight a robbery at all. Rakic probably landed more cumulative shots, but Volkan's shots actually did visual damage, and you could see the effects it was having to Rakic's movement, confidence, and body language. When you're backing up looking to just survive and keep a guy off you in a real fight, most people think you lost even if you were able to land more total strikes that don't seem to bother the guy coming forward.

That said, I can understand being upset at the decision if you were on Rakic.
