Formiga at +155, Benavidez isn't anything special.

Really? Benavidez is either the second or third best Flyweight of all time AND he kicked Formiga's ass when they fought several years ago.

              Event Background

The event will mark the promotion's third visit to Minneapolis and first since UFC on FX: Browne vs. Bigfoot in October 2012.[2]

A welterweight rematch between former UFC Welterweight Champions Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler was expected to serve as the event headliner.[3] Woodley won the title in their first encounter via first round knockout in July 2016 at UFC 201.[4] However, it was reported on May 16, 2019 that Woodley suffered a hand injury and was pulled from the fight. As a result, Lawler was removed from the card as well.[5] Subsequently, a heavyweight bout between former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos and former title challenger Francis Ngannou has been scheduled as the event headliner instead. The pairing has been scheduled twice before, first at UFC 215 and then again at UFC 239 but in both instances the fights were scrapped.[6][7]

A light heavyweight bout between Roman Dolidze and Vinicius Moreira was scheduled at the event. However, an unknown reason saw Dolidze pull out of the fight on May 7 and he was replaced by Eryk Anders.[8]

A featherweight bout between Chas Skelly and Jordan Griffin was originally scheduled for this event. However, on June 13, Skelly pulled out of the fight citing injury.[9] Griffin will now face promotional newcomer Vince Murdock.[10]

A bantamweight bout between Sergio Pettis and Ricardo Ramos was scheduled to take place at this event. However, on June 15, it was reported that Pettis pulled out of the bout for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by newcomer Journey Newson.[11][10]

A light heavyweight bout between Justin Ledet and Dalcha Lungiambula was scheduled to take place at this event. However, on June 24, it was announced that Ledet was removed from the card. The promotion is actively looking for a replacement opponent for Lungiambula.[12]

Got a total of 5.5u down on parlays including Menifield+Craig Won't Go Distance. Neither guy has ever been the distance in their professional careers. I think Menifield comes out hard and finishes Craig early. In the event that Craig weathers the storm, I think that he'll submit Menifield in the later rounds.

Thats an average as well, i also got a 100 dollars down on eryk 2.0 as well. In the early going line was swinging, and i thought damn that looks off...and within 30 min line was swinging wildly from 1.50 to 2.0 So i got maybe 400 dollars down on an average of -120. Eryk Anders sucks tho so i hope i wont be sweating this one.

You can make sweet sure bet with odds jumping into -300 area and chill with beer in hand.

Decent card.. Can JDS's chin hold up is the question? JDS's best chance to win I think is to take this black mammoth to the canvas. Get the sub win. JDS doesn't fight like that though. He likes to keep it standing..

Mee 2, until i saw the OAM fight where Tony Martin got taken down every attempt, for every round, total of 4 takedowns.

Maybe Tony Martin can in the meantime have acquired a better takedown defence since then, but no one besides the absolute best wrestlers have been able to stop Maia...theres no exceptions, its a no one.

Martin may have pretty good defence, at best imo it may look like Masvidal fight, but i dont think Tony Martin have the same overall craft and gamesmanship in all areas of the game like Masvidal.

But if Tony Martin win, its almost surely by dec so +275 is perhaps the way to go, if you like him.

All out on Any other result -6450 vs Ngannou wins by submission +2150!! Haha jk. The guy has 4 submissions out of his 13 victories, 1 in his UFC career. That would be a square bet.

In the last eight years, JDS has only completed two takedowns in the UFC. To your point, he likes to keep it standing. I think his best path to victory is weathering the Ngannou storm and outpointing him. NGannou has never been finished but has also never won a fight that lasted more than ten minutes.

It opened (+250). I got some at (+185). Jibs you can get Won't Start Round 2 (+125) which includes Ngannou R1 and is a better price.

205 lbs.: Justin Ledet vs. Dalcha Lungiambula

Justin Ledet (8-2) — who spent almost four years away from the sport in amateur boxing — got off to a perfect (3-0) Octagon start as a Heavyweight before a failed United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) test briefly forced him to the sidelines for a few months (details). He dropped to 205 pounds upon his return, where he’s dropped a one-sided decision to Aleksandar Rakic and suffered a 15-second knockout loss to Johnny Walker.
“El Blanco stands six inches taller than Dalcha Lungiambula (9-1) at 6’4.”
“Champion Dalcha” claimed the EFC Light Heavyweight title in 2016, then successfully defended it with a pair of knockout victories. He proceeded to move up to 265 pounds to challenge Heavyweight champion Andrew van Zyl, whom he defeated by split decision despite giving up more than 40 pounds.
He owns four wins via (technical) knockout and one other by submission.
Lungiambula is definitely the most intriguing of the myriad double champs entering the Octagon recently. A judo black belt with fast, powerful hands, he’s both entertaining and rapidly improving. He’s also, unfortunately, undersized for the division, standing 5’10” and regularly weighing in comfortably below the 205-pound limit.
Not the best issue to have against a rangy boxer with a great jab.
Lungiambula should have plenty of early success considering the issues Ledet had with Rakic’s wrestling. The need to shoot from long range and Lungiambula’s cardio troubles could betray him before long, though, and while I’m pulling for “Champion Dalcha,” I see Ledet taking control and pot-shotting at range to win the latter two rounds.
                                                    Prediction: Ledet via unanimous decision

155 lbs.: Jared Gordon vs. Dan Moret

Jared Gordon (14-3) — a former Cage Fury champion — announced his UFC arrival with impressive victories over Michel Quinones and Hacran Dias, only to run afoul of Diego Ferreira his next time out and suffer a technical knockout loss. Ten months later, he returned to action in a brutal “Fight of the Night” against Joaquin “Neto BJJ” Silva, who knocked out Gordon midway through the third round.
He’ll give up three inches of height and five inches of reach to “The Hitman.”
Dan Moret (13-5) ran into multiple future UFC competitors during his time on the regional circuit, falling to Luke Sanders, Bobby Moffett, and Raoni Barcelos under the RFA banner. He’s yet to taste victory in the Octagon, suffering a knockout loss to Gilbert Burns in his promotional debut and dropping a unanimous decision to Alex White in March.
“The Hitman” has submitted eight professional foes and knocked out one other.
This honestly feels pretty straightforward. Moret needs to consistently hit takedowns to be effective, but is going up against a bigger, stronger wrestler who can easily exploit “The Hitman’s” leaky wrestling defense. Worse, Gordon can control the striking through sheer volume, and though he’s coming off a pair of stoppage losses, Moret lacks the power to make it three.
Frankly, I expect Gordon to just bulldoze Moret with pressure and consistent takedowns. He wears down Moretwith his customary pressure before ultimately putting him away with ground-and-pound.
Prediction: Gordon via third-round technical knockout

115 lbs.: Emily Whitmire vs. Amanda Ribas

Emily Whitmire (4-2) went 1-1 on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 26, tapping Christina Marks in the opening round before falling to Roxanne Modafferi in the quarterfinals. Though she tapped to Gillian Robertson in her Octagon debut, “Spitfire” has since beaten Jamie Moyle by decision and choked out unbeaten Alexandra Albu in 61 seconds.
She stands one inch taller than Amanda Ribas (6-1) at 5’5.”
Ribas went undefeated (2-0) as an amateur and stopped four of her first five pro opponents, earning a shot at the Jungle Fight Strawweight title. Though she fell short against Polyana Viana, she rebounded six months later with a technical knockout to win the Max Fight Flyweight belt.
This will be her first fight in just more than three years thanks to a USADA violation (details).
Unless Ribas has made massive strides during her time away, the game has passed her by. Her most recent bout had all the hallmarks of early women’s mixed martial arts (MMA): head-and-arm throws, bolt-upright striking, robotic punches. Whitmire figures to have the edge just about everywhere, particularly in the wrestling.
Ribas has some dangerous ground-and-pound, but she’d need to get on top to use it, and I don’t see that happening — Whitmire cruises to victory with effective top control.
                                                    Prediction: Whitmire via unanimous decision

265 lbs.: Maurice Greene vs. Junior Albini

Maurice Greene (7-2) was among the largest personalities on TUF 28, but fell to rival and eventual tournament winner Juan Espino Dieppa in the semifinals. “The Crochet Boss” found greater success in the Octagon itself, tapping Michel Batista and avenging a loss to Jeff Hughes via split decision.
He stands four inches taller than Junior Albini (14-5) and will have an eight-inch reach advantage.
Albini boasted 10 first-round stoppage wins heading into his Octagon debut and swiftly made it 11, knocking out Timothy Johnson to earn “Performance of the Night.” He has yet to taste victory since, dropping a decision to Andrei Arlovski, tapping to Alexey Oleinik, and suffering a head kick knockout against Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
He has knocked out and submitted six foes apiece.
Well, I think it’s safe to say that Albini didn’t pan out quite as expected. The big Brazilian constantly finds ways to lose seemingly winnable fights, whether through poor game-planning or an unwillingness to let those heavy hands go. Greene’s superior consistency would be enough for me to pick him even without the edges in length and height.
I just have far more faith in Greene’s ability to execute than vice-versa. “The Crochet Boss” uses his massive reach advantage to pick apart Albini at range and take home either a late stoppage or a wide decision.
                                                    Prediction: Greene via unanimous decision

135 lbs.: Ricardo Ramos vs. Journey Newson

Ricardo Ramos (12-2) kicked off his Octagon career with three consecutive victories, among them a bonus-winning spinning back elbow knockout of unbeaten Aiemann Zahabi. His undefeated UFC run came to an end in February when fellow top prospect Said Nurmagomedov caught him with a spinning back kick midway through the first round.
“Carcacinha” stands four inches taller than Journey Newson (9-1) at 5’9.”
Newson won his first three professional mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts before running into future UFC competitor Benito Lopez, who knocked him out midway through the first round. He has since picked up three (technical) knockouts and two submissions in six victories, the most recent of which saw him score an 80-second knockout just last month.
He steps in for the injured Sergio Pettis on less than two weeks’ notice.
I can’t find squat as far as recent footage of Newson. One of his recent bouts is on Vimeo, but it’s $2.99 to rent. Not $2.99 to rent the event, $2.99 for one fight. Screw that.
From what I can gather, Newson is primarily a grappler who’s made an effort to improve his boxing. Ramos has a similar skillset, but is a good bit rangier and more proven against strong opposition. Indeed, if a tank like Kyung Ho Kang couldn’t consistently overpower Ramos, Newson will find it more than a little difficult. Ramos leans on his length to control the striking and peppers in a couple of takedowns.
                                                    Prediction: Ramos via unanimous decision

205 lbs.: Vinicius Moreira vs. Eryk Anders

Vinicius Moreira (9-2) brought a four-fight, four-finish streak onto “Contender Series: Brazil,” where he tapped knockout artist John Allan Arte with a second-round triangle choke to earn himself a contract. His Octagon debut saw him face top prospect Alonzo Menifield, who handed the hulking Brazilian his second knockout loss at Barclays Center last January.
All nine of the professional wins for “Mamute” have come by submission, six of them in the first round.
Once the talk of the town, Eryk Anders (11-4) finds himself just 1-4 in his last five after starting his Octagon career perfect (2-0). Since destroying Tim Williams with a vicious head kick, the former Alabama linebacker has been mauled by Thiago Santos, outworked by Elias Theodorou, and broken down by Khalil Rountree, leaving him winless since Aug. 2018.
He is a late-notice replacement for Roman Dolidze, who withdrew because of injury early in May.
This is pretty much just Moreira’s fight with Menifield again — it’s another “two true outcome” fight. On the feet, “Mamute” is a slow-moving punching bag for Anders. On the mat, Moreira holds nearly as much of an edge. Either Anders obliterates him in the first few minutes or Moreira torches him from top position.
This is more winnable for Moreira than his debut just because of the size advantage, but while Anders belongs at 185 pounds, he’s still got what it takes to wipe out a stationary target.
Prediction: Anders via first-round technical knockout

145 lbs.: Jordan Griffin vs. Vince Murdock

Jordan Griffin (17-6) — whose only loss in his last nine fights before “Contender Series” came against current Bellator standout Juan Archuleta — punched his ticket to the Octagon with an impressive submission of Maurice Mitchell in July. Fellow “Contender Series” alumnus Dan Ige proved a step too far, unfortunately, out-grinding “The Native Psycho” in his Octagon debut in Dec. 2018.
He has submitted eight professional opponents and knocked out another five.
Team Alpha Male’s Vince Murdock (10-5/12-3) has ended all but two of his pro victories inside the distance, knocking out seven. He last competed in December, knocking out Justin King to claim the Total Warrior Combat Featherweight title.
He replaces Chas Skelly on short notice.
To explain the confusion about Vince’s record up there: he had two bogus stoppage losses in Super Fight League, one from a cut that was nowhere near his eye and another when he took repeated low blows that the ref claimed were clean leg kicks. Sherdog.com has them both listed as losses, hence 10-5, and doesn’t list his win over King. Tapology, meanwhile, includes the King victory and lists the SFL fights as a win and a “No Contest.”
As far as this fight, Murdock is a fairly bog-standard Alpha Male wrestleboxer, while Griffin is an insanely aggressive all-rounder. Whichever way it goes, it ought to be plenty entertaining. I say Griffin’s volume carries him to a narrow decision victory.
                                                    Prediction: Griffin via split decision

Francis Ngannou teases using his ground skills vs. JDS

Francis Ngannou chats with Karyn Bryant, Rashad Evans and Kamaru Usman to preview his heavyweight main event fight vs. Junior Dos Santos at UFC Fight Night on ESPN. “The Predator” describes how he’s turned things around after losing back-to-back fights and why his cardio shouldn’t be judged off his performance vs. Stipe Miocic.

Extremely juicy, but Over 2.5 Jussier Formiga and Joseph Benavidez at -270 is almost a certainty in my opinion. This has decision written all over it. I know how the first fight went, but this time around it should go to the cards.

Formiga may utilize his reach advantage and keep Benavidez at bay this time around. Some clinching here and there. Expecting a pretty boring fight to be honest with a close, possibly split decision with neither fighter doing much. Guess we will see soon!

If Formiga wins, it is by a decision. Formiga lacks in the power department and I don't think he will submit a Benavidez who hasn't been submitted once in his career. I don't expect Benavidez to come out and KO Jussier this time around or submit him for that matter. I think Jussier will fight a smarter game than last time.
