UFC 5 minute 3 rounds, should they change it?
The typical non-championship fight for UFC is 3 rounds at 5 minutes a round.
I believe with all the controversial decisions at the end of the matchs, switching the fights to 5 rounds at 3 minutes each is a better idea. Same amount of time fighting, 15 min, and with 3 minute rounds, just like boxing, it allows the fighters to have more energy during the fight, which will lead to more entertaining fights.

    What do you guys think?

Yeah, one round no time limit, fighters fight until someone wins.. No judging involved... That way we never see a judging robbery again and the best fighter should always win..

never ever happen. To hard to fix fights with bad decisions when it is five rounds. A lot easier to fix them when they are three rounds.

Thats how UFC was back when it first started.

Fights were way too long and boring as the fighters were too fukin tired to do anything.

I think it's a great idea. I think the scoring should be posted at the end of each round for the fighters and audience to see. Would make for more entertainment, and if a scrub is gettin hosed for 3 straight rounds, end it.

Ken Shamrock / Royce Gracie II fought nearly 30 minutes straight until ref called it off.

              Yes dagsley is right.

Original UFC fights were fierce but boring. Used to fight like 4 times in one night.

Now most guys do not fight 4 times in one year.

Mo, remember when Don Frye had 11 UFC fights in 1996?

I think that is the record for most fights in a year.

And I think Royce had 9 fights a couple years before that.

                  I did not know that.

Guy fought every 48 hours basically.

I like five 3's a lot. Too much happens in a 5 minute round.

I'd like to see them start with seven 4's for Championship fights. They fight 11% more BUT the fighters get 50% more rest. If they took the rooster off the tv screen most people would not notice the difference between 4 minute & 5 minute rounds.

Change all main card fights to 5 rds. Leave all prelim fights 3 rds.

Would cause UFC to put less fights on cards meaning they could have more cards and make more money.

This would actually heavily favor strong grapplers. One takedown could end a round.
