    Pujols returns
Not only will Houston look for a jolt getting Roger Clemens back in their pitching mix, St. Louis has activated Albert Pujols today as well.

Pujols was cleared to play and is supposed to be in the lineup for the Cards tonight as they look to avoid being swept by the White Sox.

you would think Roger Clemens died or something with all the coverage ESPN has been giving to him the past few days.....The Astros are not going to be any better with Clemens...they will not be in the postseason.

I think Pujolos will have a far greater impact then Clemens by a wide margin...

Pretty bold statement. Saying they won't make the playoffs doesn't take any cojones. But I simply can't figure out how placing Clemens on ANY major league team right now doesn't make that team better.

Houston comes into the game 37-35 (.514). They've got 90 games left. If they win 46 of the next 90, they'll be 83-79 (.518) and, at least by the mildest definition, a better team than they are right now. Curious to know your definition of "not going to be any better," Buddy?

0-4. Maybe he should of stayed on the DL.

well for a guy who will be pitching every fifth day, a guy who has yet to show anything this year, and a team that is simply average or below average in a number of statistical categories it's hard to imagine how anything is going to change so quickly.

I mean sure it's easy to get caught up in the media frenzy around the Rocket's return but basically the Astros are banking on a 43 year old who has yet to pitch this year to carry them to the post season.

You look at this team, they are near the bottom in hitting.....they are worst in the NL Central batting wise, they are near the bottom in bases stolen, their pitching is mediocre at best with Pettite, Rodriguez, Bucholoz, and Oswalt, their closer is not automatic anymore and their bullpen has struggled at times.

I think they will make a run for the N.L. wild card but will fall short.

I guess if I am wrong feel free to bring this thread back up...but I'll take my chances with my prediction that not much will change for Houston.

just bringing him back early did spark that team. yes, i know they did lose tonight, but they didn't give up 9 runs in the 3rd again

It was 11 Dan. I dont think Pujols had anything to do with the pitching holding the Sox in check.
