Jimmy Rollins hitting streak

Bigboydan, I agree it should be considered as the new hitting streak, probably a harder way of hitting in 57 straight games considering the off season.

He can set the all-time record, but it would not be the single season record, for that that's worth. Joltin' Joe would still be listed with that mark.

mrmookie, i was doing my bases homework today. seems like everyone forgot about his current streak he has going right now.

i did happen to find one really nice atricle on this subject. it basicly said in a nut shell that streak should have an atrics next to it just like they did with Ruth's home run record (154 games) when Maris broke it in 162 games

I dont think we will have to worry about it. I dont think he will get that many anyway. The offseason is going to hurt him, he was in a zone at the end of last season.

looker, thats what would make this feat so incredable if he did break it. do you know how hard it would be to start off a year with a 21 game hitting streak. people can't overlook that factor at all.

Oh I know it. I agree with you on that, it would be a tougher streak to have, with the offseason sandwiched in between.

I assure you that if he manages to hit in 21 games to start the season, that his mark of 57 consecutive games with a hit will be the preeminent record. The asterisk will only serve to make the record more impressive.

Any asterisk would be there simply to inform the ignorant that DiMaggio's streak was in the same season and Rollins' was over the course of two.

Hitting in the first 21 games of a season would be remarkable. But even more amazing to me if Rollins pulled it off would be the ability to do so with such intense pressure from the media who would be all over him like flies to a cowpie.

i don't think the media will put the pressue on him til he hits safely in the 8-10 games.

i feel that the media would be all caught up in the start of the baseball season, and won't really realize it til then.
