Should they change HR Derby? Two suggestions..
HR Derby was way too drawn out last night, especially Hanley Ramirez taking way too many pitches in second round.

    Couple suggestions:

    1) How about having a machine throw to players?

    2) Have an umpire behind the plate and call strikes..

    Yes, Use a pitching machine

They should have like a 5 minute timer. Hit as many HR's as you can within 5 minutes. Doesn't matter how many outs.

I think this would be a lot more entertaining and fun to watch.

I like the idea of timing these guys. It's great that you can hit 25 hr's in one round, but honestly, it gets a little boring after 10. Bring on the timer.

I like the way it is, just you need to have the right people. Those aren't the best home run hitters in the league. Swisher? Get the fukk out. If your going to hold a competition and build it up so much you have to have the right people to make it exciting.

If they really want to make the HR derby exciting again, they need to recreate the old HR Derby

                1. Move it to the off season. Do it over a 3 day period in Hawaii, you know someplace players will want to go
                2. top 32 reg season HR leaders are invited
                3. seeding is by reg season home runs 1vs 32, 2 vs 31...etc single elimination 5 rounds total 31 matches in all
                4. 9 inning game - 1 out per inning.
                5. Same pitcher throws to both batters for 5 inn each.
                6. winner gets sponsorship $$$ donated to their fave charity. plus a little cash for them for winning each rd.

Derby gets its own 1/2 hr show on the MLB network or ESPN

Use the pitching machine and aim at their head, see who can dodge the most, with a timer though that would be the way yes.
