That would be great if you did ...

Yes there has been problems on this site with people coming in and complaining while they blindly tail .. i think I can safely say the biggest problem area has been with the NBA .. but NCAAB and Soccer seem to be doing fine ..

I completely understand what your saying and while your going on over 30 years, I'm going on under 3 years so would love to learn from someone who has seen it over and over again .. thanks man .. looking forward to the season

Paid and proved
Last season I was hitting 55%, but I would see guys hitting at 40% making good money, and then guys hitting 60-70% losing money!

I disagree that an automated system wouldn't make you money. I think that human factors can be quantified. Motivation, laziness, pride, etc. All of these emotions can be automated, and if you make emotional bets, it is important to automate them so that you don't become emotional about your bets. Make sense?

good point, I am against emotions in betting as well, motivation and stuff is good only if you bet on a team that has power value at least. I just see how often here people rely on those streaks and stuff like that, but forget that isn't all about bare stats like flipping coin 9 times doesn't guarantee 10th. A good bet has two basements: the first is strength evaluation (that are those streaks, stats, et.c.) and the second is current situation analyses.
I have recently put my trust in one streak stats, posted here that during the last 12 years always except two times 12th seed won ATS 5th seed, and bet this time, but this year it went 2-2. No way you can bet your money only if the stats are good irrespective of everything else. No way more than 60%. At least you have to check injuries.

Thanks for the thread guys. Awesome ideas. CappinTerp, would love to see your plays. Thinking of opening my thread. good luck everyone

Here's how it works -- you deposit your money, you start betting games, you can't keep up with all the teams because they play every day and in one month, after losing all your money betting heavy favorites, you swear off betting baseball.

Just kidding...although that's what happens for a lot of beginners. MLB has been kinder to me than any other sport but not at first.

Hey guys excellent thread, I've learned more by reading the 2 pages on this thread than I did trying to find answers on google. This is my first season attempting to bet on MLB, I usually stick to soccer(england), ncaab, nfl and nba.

Since I'm new, I'm going to just focus on one division(AL Central) until I get a better understanding of the game, trends, tendencies, etc... I'm a big stats and news junkie, hopefully that provides me with somewhat of an edge(it has in the other sports I bet) Alot of what I've been told has been reiterated on this site(bet underdogs and totals in baseball).

GL to all, I will continue to monitor this thread for more great insight.

What do people think of sabermetrics around here? Is it a good tool in determining which team will win? Or is it more just good for individual player projections? Or is it overrated altogether?

                      to play or to win

Looking for the general accepted way to bet on baseball

i know with football and basketball you bet units to win. ie 10 units on an nfl game. if you win, u win 10 units, if you lose, you lose 11 units since just about all nfl bets are set at -110.

With baseball, and for counting units, if i throw 10 units on a baseball game, is it typical to throw the units on To Win, or To Play. Here's an example:

                      NYY/BOS Under 9 runs set at -115

Bet to win 10 units will result in either winning 10 units or losing 11.5 units

Bet to play 10 units will result in either winning 8.7 units or losing 10 units

so in everyone's opinion, what the accepted way to bet on baseball?

Cappin Terp.... I was reading your baseball posts on the forum. I am usually a football basketball sides guy with the NHL o/u thrown in too. My hardest sport to make any money is Baseball. I do a lot of homework look up stats and all. Soon as they hit they hit the field it's like WTF? That's cool that you know some bookies. I can't find any in Arkansas where I live so I am forced to go on the internet. You seem very knowlegeable and I would like to pick your brain from time to time.
