Not much has gone right for the Phillies so far this season, and that should continue tonight when Philadelphia hosts the Houston Astros in a makeup game.

Our Monday MLB selection is on the Houston Astros over the Philadelphia Phillies. This Monday game is a re-schedule of the rainout between these two teams back on April 15.

Picked by some before the start of the season to at least win their division in 2007, nothing seems to have gone right for the Phils so far. At 6-11, the only thing keeping them out of the cellar in the NL East are the unbelievably bad Washington Nationals. Many are calling for the head of manager Charlie Manuel, who had a meltdown a few days ago after a meeting with reporters.

The Phillies will send out veteran righthander Adam Eaton to face hot rookie Chris Sampson of the 'stros. It's hard to believe that this is the same Adam Eaton who looked so promising several years ago when he came up with the San Diego Padres. Last year, although he had a winning record, Eaton was pretty bad in his first and only year in Texas with the Rangers. This year looks even worse so far as Eaton has an incredible ERA of 6.62 after his first three starts with his new team.

The Phillies bullpen has been extremely disappointing as well, with a 4.58 ERA after the first 3 weeks. It would seem the only good news is that Philadelphia just got MVP first baseman Ryan Howard back after he had been out with a knee injury, and Howard helped the Phillies on Sunday with a home run in his return. Unfortunately, Howard can't go out to the mound and mend Philadelphia's pitching woes.

The Phillies have only won one game at home this season while the Astros have done their best work on the road, going 6-3 so far. Take Houston.

Houston has had the Phillies' number in the City of Brotherly Love lately. But look for Philadelphia to be rude hosts this evening when they take on the Astros.

We're not afraid to go against the Astros who are 10 of 12 in Philadelphia and 12 of 18 in their most recent road encounters.

We know Houston is 4-0 in the last four outings by improving starter Chris Sampson (1.20), but the Phils return home looking for major revenge against this pesky foe. Most likely, the key angle in this battle is the way Houston lost on Sunday vs. Milwaukee. After not scoring until the top of the ninth, the Astros struck gold with three runs in the top of the ninth only to lose after Craig Biggio went out with three men left on base.

Houston let a key game get away and that will dictate a dead spot on Monday, and by the way, is Biggio overdue to retire?

    Play: Phillies -120

I like the Phillies in this game.

That closed door meeting that the Phillies had a couple of days ago might have did the trick for them. Since that meeting they have been playing much better these past few games.

I actually liked the Astros in this one, but ended up passing today. Only thing I bet today was the Sox and A's.

          Good hit Mr.Diamond.
