no big surprise with Timmy Mac working the ALCS.. He is the crew chief and i don't know why MLB loves him so much.. I don't like his work behind the plate.. why the fukk does he take 4.3 seconds to make a strike call.. i've never seen a slower calling ump than timmy.. make the fukkin call, timmy.

mlb made sure to give timmy the plate for game 1, and game 7 if necessary.. mlb really loves this fruit.. but he has been around.

can you believe this is the same guy that called George Brett out for the pine tar incident, and he's still around? unreal..

McClelland is a good ball/strike guy, but he does drive me nuts with his nonchalant calls behind the plate and on the bases. He acts like its the biggest pain in the ass to raise his arm(s) to make an out or safe call.

At least that piece of shit Phil Cuzzi isn't in the LCS. Bet he made more money getting paid off than he would of umping the LCS anyways.

Agree, never have been a fan of McClelland either. Calls it tight, then loosens way the hell up for a few pitches or a batter or two, and back to tight. I like Bill Miller in the ALCS but beware Fieldin Culbreth at some point or behind the plate in possible Game 6. He's bound to screw up one big call in this one. Holbrook calls a very 'under friendly zone' but I think it's a fair one.

Who's the guy that insists on wailing like a banshee every time he calls a strike? When he's in a small market ballpark he makes more noise than the fans!

Squirrel, hate to date myself but when I first read this the initial name that ran through my head was Dutch Rennert who hasn't called a game since the early-to-mid 90s. But I think jwp set us both straight with the Joyce notation.

i remember that day like it was yesterday.. opening day and my beloved Expos were playing them and he collapsed..

talk about dutch rennert.. how the hell did dutchy keep that yelling up consistently all year. he nver got tired. his voice NEVER gave out.. the guy was a machine.

you guys remember "BUFFALO".. eric gregg? i loved him too.. he was funny, very fat, and fun to watch.. they called him, buffalo.. but then he lost a ton of weight and then became thin.. he then died recently in his early 50's.. he was like mcsherry.. very similar in weight and health..

There was a great photo of McSherry in the San Francisco Herald (I think, might have been their other paper back then) in the mid-80s. The Giants and Cardinals were playing at Candlestick, and that was when St. Louis had all the runners and one big bat in the middle, Jack Clark. Cards were up pretty well, like 7-2 or something like that, late in the game and Herzog was still giving his baserunners the green light to steal. Roger Craig thought it was bush for the Cardinals to still be stealing bases, and I think the pitcher was Juan Berenguer who was told to throw at the next St. Louis batter. So he did and both benches empty into your typical baseball brawl.

The photo showed McSherry in this sea of players, Cardinals on one side and Giants on the other, and he's got his arms stretched out like he's holding both teams back by himself. Always liked Big John.
