I'm sure I've mentioned it before but it is standard in most 3rd world countries for people to "clean" themselves with their left hands, because many places do not have paper products. You'd think they could at least get some toilet paper in the Tigers clubhouse!

Looks like sheit, but did he grab any dirt on the pitchers mound or anything? Maybe its just moist dirt.

I wonder if he had been fisting Todd Jones before the game?

IF it is pine tar, then that would should explain his masterful preformences during this great run the Tigers and he has been on.

Remember, this guy hasn't done a damn thing in the playoffs in the past. Now he's pitching like Cy Young.

It sure does not explain innings 2 through 8. He must have got lucky only allowing two hits and 0 earned runs after cleaning his hand.

Bit odd that he has had a similar-looking substance on the same place in his last 3 starts, though.

Im not sure what it is, but it is strange that its been there the last few times he has pitched. But wouldnt someone notice some pine tar on the baseballs? Or is that just from the bats?

He clearly pitched well without the substance (whatever it was). If he was trying to cheat it makes no sense as to why since his command has been near flawless this postseason.

This reminds me of the old veteran pitcher in the movie "major league". When he said he used crisco, and snot on the ball.

It dont strike you strange, that something has been there on the same hand, and pretty much the same spot the last few starts?

Im sure they will keep a good eye on him come game 6.

                              Good point looker.

Now that Rogers has been exposed with that substance on his hand, I'm wondering if there might just be some value with that updated series price with the Cardinals.

There's no doubt he was hiding something, but he did fine without it the rest of the game which makes me question why he even attemped to cheat in the first place.

Why didn't the umpire inspect his hand anyways? There's a rule that states foreign substances are not allowed and is punishable by immediate ejection and 10 game suspension.

I know, I seen that on sports center myself.

He did pitch well afterwards, but maybe he was hiding it better? Who knows, but maybe this will effect Rogers in game 6.

Truth is : This is a non-issue because of innings 2-8. Whatever the stain was it won't be there in gm 6 (if there is a gm 6)

It's obvious he's been cheating, but the blame should also fall on LaRussa for being such a pansy and not having them check the substance immediately when they spotted it and for the umps for just letting it pass as "dirt".

He did pitch well in innings 2-8, but there could've have been some residue left on his hand. He was a career bum in the playoffs before his magical run this year. He's either using that substance to aid him or he bought a large supply of Taco's beans.
