I like Padres to win this one behind fat man Wells. Also think the Dodgers will even up the series tonight. Having trouble gauging the Tigers game, because of the uncertainty of Verlander's arm strength.

A little cooler with the wind blowing in from left-center today in the Bronx, so you might be right about the under 9½, Ivy. The rainout might be more upsetting to the mindset and rhythm of a younger, less experienced guy like Verlander than Mussina. I actually like the over in that game.

I've got no feel or leans at all towards either Weaver or Wells in the Cards-Pads game. Just going to sit back and watch that one.

My gut says the Dodgers will get to Glavine early and LA wins it, but something along the lines of 5-3, 4-2, something like that.

I will be passing on both early games because I have both the Yanks and Cards for the series and I feel this is the 1 gm that they could both lose... Maybe not the Yanks but the -240 just seems too high for my taste...
I too like the Dodgers tonight...

Is it me, or are the Fox games always interminably long?

Sure seems like it. And while I have no research to back it up, I think a slow-paced game means more runs -- you don't get many starters lasting beyond the 6th or achieving any kind of rhythm while they are in there.

That, plus that Detroit's young arms have been pushed to their limits, plus the dreadful Yankee pen, puts me somewhat blindly on the over this afternoon (and for the rest of the series.)

It's not you, they seem long to me. I can't stand McCarver and have to mute the games he's doing. And FOX spends soooooooo much time plugging all their bullsh!t shows

Ivy's under is looking good so far in the Tigers-Yanks game.

                Motown-4, Big Apple-3, thru 7th

Nice little bottom of the seventh by Zumaya, striking out Jeter and getting Abreu on the grounder. Still feel like more runs are going to be scored today...

A 2-run shot by Posada right here would give you both

Ok, a 2-run shot now by Cano would do it.

                        Tigers even series...

Got to hand it to Detroit for winning this one. I really expected them to be tighter, but they split and now go home to Motown. Key to this one was holding the NYY 4-5-6 hitters to an 0-11 afternoon. A-Rid needs to coagulate his feces or prepare to be buried.

Good call on the under, Ivy. Congrats on that one

This should be a fun series to watch over the weekend...
Still like the Yanks to pull it off... I certainly hope ($$$) so...

Who would have thunk it. Jeff Weaver is throwing a 1 hitter today so far.

I think the Pads will put up a crooked number in one of the next 3 innings, but what do I know? (Just got back from cardroom and didn't pay any attention to the game while I was there either. Saw the Tigers come through though )

Scratch that, after of watching an inning, this one should be a shutout for the Cards. Padres look pathetic.

So far both road teams have won today...with the Tigers winning in Yankee Stadium and the Cardinals winning again in San Diego. I'm hoping this pattern holds for the rest of the day. I'm taking the moneyline on the Dodgers +132 and the over.
