Mariners at Tigers - Labor Day
    Take the Tigers today

    By: Pacific Star

Detroit is at home and facing a southpaw, both of which are solid reasons to play the Tigers.

There is an angle that has been especially profitable for us all season, and that is playing on the Tigers vs lefthanders.

Detroit is now 30-14 this season while facing a southpaw starter. An added bonus is the fact that Seattle starter Jarrod Washburn isn't exactly the second coming of Sandy Koufax. He is just 2-7 this season on the road with an ERA of 5.14.

The Tigers, meanwhile, start lefty Nate Robertson who matches up well vs Seattle. The Mariners average just 3.9 runs/game against lefties and Robertson has a very nice ERA of just 2.55 against them in five career starts.

With the White Sox and the Twins breathing down their necks, this is a series Detroit needs to win, if not sweep. We like them to get out on the right foot tonight with a solid win.

    Play: Tigers (-142)
