NY Mets at Houston Astros
The New York Mets have won 11 of their last 13 and have averaged over 7 runs of offense per game during this streak. Look for their offense to bounce back after peetering out at Colorado last night.
The strong Mets lineup should have no problem with the offerings of the Astros Wandy Rodriguez tonight. The southpaw has a 5.49 ERA in his young career and just doesn't appear ready for success yet at this level. He faced two mediocre lineups in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee in his two starts since returning to the bigs.
Rodriguez still got roughed up as he's allowed 9 earned runs on 12 hits and 4 walks in 10 innings of work since being called up from AAA. That kind of work won't get the job done against the powerful Mets but we expect the Astros may match the Mets run for run.
All of the sudden Houston has gotten hot and crept back into the Wild Card race. The Astros have won six straight and scored an average of almost 7 runs per win! The Mets lefty Glavine is returning from being shutdown for a blood clot in his throwing shoulder and he is likely to struggle some in his first start back.
Note that Tom has struggled on the road in each of the last three seasons. That includes this season where he has accumulated a 4.71 ERA and a .280 BAA away from home.
