I agree. Peavy at +174 is a good value.

agreed...it's important to note that SD played there earlier this year and nearly swept them there took the first 3 of 4.

SD is worth a shot at +340. Anything can happen in a 5 game series and STL has not been that impressive as of late. All the pressure is on STL. No pressure on SD and this might be a role they do well in. No more worrying about reaching .500 or the Giants or playing in the NL west. They are in the playoffs now and it's all even!

Any team Larussa coaches you know you have a shot against them. Tnis guy is real bad and shows what a loser he is when he protects steroid users. Tony would be nothing and out of bases if he did not turn his head all those years with his players that made him win.

I would not doubt if Tony injected the players himself.

Carpenter is in terrible form (0-1, 9.14 ERA last four starts)......
Carpenter is 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA against the Padres this season.
Carpenter is 2-1 totally with 2.89 ERA in 28 innings pitched against SD

Peavy pitched once against the Cards this year, he only suffered 1 run, 2 hits + had 10 SO-s in 8 innings.....
Peavy is 0-2 with a 2.81 ERA in four career starts against the Cardinals

                SEASON SERIES: Padres, 4-3.

And the worst for Cards is Al Reyes is out....he is the only STL reliever, who was pitching great in the last few weeks.....Ray King is a complete disaster, Tavarez just a little better, and what is the strangest, Izzy blowed saves, and not as confident as before....Al for example last week against CIN entered the game in a 0 out loaded situation, which he dealt with 3 fast strikeouts...guess who, Ray King made this for him, but he saved his a§§....his injury could cost a lot to Cards....More pressure will be on Thompson and Eldred....and trusting in El Dread can backfire....

Many things calls for a bet on SD....but don't forget, that Cards had many of their last games without a real aim....but now, they must win.
Carpenter and the relievers just started their frenzy after Cards won the NL, so this could mean nothing, plus their bats can help them a lot. Pujols is batting like an MVP, Sanders shows good signs, and don't forget Edmonds, Eckstein and Walker, they can decide a game alone too....+STL is dangerous at home (50-31)......so this is a no bet for me, if I bet, it would be a Cards win, but I wait one more game, I think the today game will show us a lot about how to deal with Cards....

What an excellent post. Couldn't agree more with everything said here: I'll say this: Cardinal nation is definitely nervous. If Carpenter gets in trouble today, the only thing to bail him out is the Cards bats. The bullpen took a severe blow when Reyes blew out his elbow. His work for the entire year was drastically underrated. If the answer from the left side of the bullpen is Ray King and Randy Flores, the Cards could be in deep, deep trouble. I think this thing is going 5. I have a feeling Woody Williams might be a tad bit motivated for his Game 3 start against Matt Morris. All SD has to do is split the 2 in STL. With Peavy on the mound, I like their chances.......No bigger Cardinal fan than me, but this thing smells like trouble.

fixxer, I think the consensus is that SD is a very good value bet at +190. Not many will dispute that the Cards are the favourites here.

Yikes!!!!!! The funny thing is: if this were a regular season game, I can say with relative certainty that if Peavy were getting +190 that we would all be licking our chops on that one. Oh well, try again later.

This is Peavy's worst appearence in the season....

He only suffered 7 ER-s once against Mets (12 games ago), and 5 ER-s twice....in the last 11 games he had 0-3 ER-s.....
