Brad Penny is coming off a poor performance in his previous outing allowing six earned runs in six innings of work. He has pitched very well this year bouncing back from a bad outing. After his five worst appearances this year he has come back to allow just nine earned runs in 30.2 innings of work.
The Dodgers were victorious in four of those five starts.
San Diego isn't exactly knocking the cover off the ball, scoring just one lone run last night. In their last four games they have scored 10 total runs.
Woody Williams has pitched well as of late with three straight quality starts. He has a lifetime ERA of 2.47 vs the Dodgers, with quality starts in 12 of 18 career meetings. Williams has only allowed more than 2 earned runs in 3 of those 18 career starts.
