-Ervin Santana has had a good year so far 4-5 2.99 Era, WHIP close to 1- but he has struggled consistently in Tampa Bay, in all of his recent starts there he is 1-4 with a 5.47 ERA, but more compelling he has given up 8 HRs in those matchups; 3 out of 4 of those games went 'over' the total.
-Jeremy Hellickson struggled relatively the last time he faced KC, giving up 4 ERs on 9 hits and a Home Run in a 8-9 loss to KC, in KC. But what's more compelling is Hellickson receives close to 7 run avg. of run support, Tampa Bay has scored 31 runs over their last four-game stretch against Boston. Tampa Bay has scored 173 runs which ranks 4th among the American League.
-I know both teams are coming off tough series against "rivals" Boston and Detroit, but both these teams are playing with some steam, and if past performance can dictate at least a "trend" to a line, it would suggest this game should go 'over'.
- Perhaps one of the few compelling stats to the 'under' is that KC pitching staff has the lowest team avg. ERA in the AL - limiting teams to 3 runs or less over their last 11. However with how Santana has struggled here in years past, Santana knows, and certainly these Tampa Ray hitters know, I expect batters to approach with more confidence.
Both Lineups have good numbers against these starting pitchers.
