I See NBC is Still a Douchebag Network
i see network of nbc is going to be a douchebag again...their coverage starts at 11am eastern time and no same time airing for pacific time...haven't these fuks figured it out? nobody wants to watch tape delay tennis...with an 11am start time they won't be able to show both men's semi final matches live...what a joke of a network

I think the Finals are at least broadcast live, but that's only because they fall on the weekend. There's really no point to them broadcasting any weekday matches if they don't show them live.

This is why I am surprised ESPN has just not flat outbid these fukks for the full rights to all the Slams. Wish they would.

Taped tennis on networks is a horrific experience. Even if they show all matches and you can somehow avoid seeing a score, they give away what happens by tossing in extra commercials and extending/shortening changeovers. Nothing worse than watching a women's match only to have them go to commercial break at 1-1 in the 2nd set, letting you know that they have time to fill so the lady who won set #1 is going to cruise set #2.

And for the record, I'm not a big fan of ESPN's coverage, either. They seem to think we want to watch the commentators talk about a match instead of the match itself. And how many times have we missed the key break in a match because we are watching Serena Williams talk about the dress she wore the night before?

The best coverage was the US Open on USA Network. No junk, all live, all day & night if necessary. I almost cried when they lost the broadcast rights to the Open.

Totally agree on the USA Network. I was very sad when they got outbid for the coverage. They I think actually kind of became "part" of the tournament if that makes sense. They made it the "Late Night At The Open" ... don't think ESPN is great, but of the choices for the most viewers ... they'd make the most sense. Tennis Channel isn't popular enough to make most cable systems, so they rely mostly on Dish subscribers for their viewership. If they were on more cable companies packages, I bet they could get bids in on this stuff.

I just remember NBC fvcking me over with the wimbledon semis last year. They showed Nadal/Murray semi on a 2 hour tape delay, it was unbelievable BS.

Luckily we have the internet for this shit. I went without local channels for like the past 3 years (just got em back last month). You can still watch all this shit with the internet.

I think so, and that is what I'm counting on. I'm going to avoid news all day so I can watch both matches in full Friday evening. Of course, I am a little concerned that the brains at TC will scroll the scores of the completed matches along the bottom of the screen, even as we watch the replay. But considering the "T-Line" often has news from 8 days ago, I'm hoping I can enjoy these matches with full suspense.

Thanks for the headsup, Wiggums! Hopefully NBC will carry the 2nd one live, depending on what time it starts. Maybe we should hope for Rafa and Andy to play a long one.

I doubt it. I don't know for sure but I suspect NBC has exclusive rights to the 2nd match. I'm just guessing though.

Hey Gators, pray for rain before you go to sleep tonight.

showing live for east and central time zones...but not for the others...why not just show it live for the others and put the stupid today show (which is taped for those time zones anyway) on after live coverage of tennis
