Don't be a fool in the next round guys and think that since Monfils beat Ferrer, he can beat Federer.
he CAN beat federer. their last match was here in paris on a hard court tour event and Gael won 76 67 76

fed lost to gasquet just a couple weeks ago. he has to get that forehand working and take a lot more chances and use his athleticism but it IS possible. not probable but possible.

I added that to my post Glitch. Was editing as you quoted me. I just don't think in a Best of 5 format that it's a good match-up for Monfils. From a consistency standpoint, I think Roger is better, although certainly not immune to showing up with a turd performance as we've seen. Not to mention that I think this win over Ferrer will drain his emotions a bit. He could come out flat early. As I edited my post to say, I do not think it will be a blowout or straight sets - but I do think Roger knows how to play Monfils "game" - Ferrer obviously has trouble with it.

Also, I think Fed's eyes probably lit up when he saw the scoreline today and doesn't have to face Ferrer. I think Ferrer would have given him a match although Federer has never lost to him.

C'mon, win it. I've lost a lot betting NBA recently.

I'm curious to see the price for Federer-Monfils to see how much the books respect this win today or not.

I would say Federer is -800. It's not like Monfils went out there and played outstanding tennis. Federer has the name and is in good form. Plus, Monfils just played a long ass match. It's not like he routed Ferrer.

              Federer -700 at B365

Probably a little less juice at some other books

I bet a lot of action goes on Monfils and buys that down some.
