he needs to obtain it just like everyone else has according to the ranking guidelines in tennis.

Yeah this isn't basketball or football, you have to pile up points to move up in the rankings - not just wins. He's a zillion points behind Rafa still. Only way he can gain a lot is if Rafa has the worst clay court season of his life. Djokovic will have to be consistent like this all season to cut into the deficit and win Slams while Rafa loses.

I still have not seen anyone even approach to the level federer played at in his prime on the hard courts.

hats off to nole, i never gave him a shot last night, i backed rafa for a lot and layed off on BetFair for a tasty profit after he won the 1st set. i then went to bed as i had made my lolly, so i wake up and get the surprise of my life seeing nole won.

can he keep it up though over a season? only time will tell, hope he stays injury free.

think he will win the us open and id love to see him win wimbledon.

the top 3 in the world are mentally stronger than the rest.

Agree with noober on the assessment as far as comparing Djokovic and Federer. Federer was dominant for YEARS, not months. Djokovic is certainly the best men's player in 2011, but it's March.

Also, Rafa holds 3 of the slams and the points that go along with them. He is gonna need to take at least 1 more and hope Rafa doesn't win more than the French to have a chance by years end.

yeah, it's about the slams.

However, as the year moves along, Rafa has to defend a lot of points, especially in the coming months.

Djokovic should start to make up ground.

whoever has the best 2011(pointwise) will be number 1 at the end of the year. Thats the simplest way to put it. Joker already has 1 slam and a 1000 so he has a decent lead on nadal for now. I expect nadal to win 2 1000's on clay and the french so joker needs to win miami to come into wimbledon about even.

Only a matter of time before Djokovic takes over as number 1. Federer is on his way out and Nadal will always have injury concerns so it will come soon

Djokovic has to keep himself from injuries, he needs to play good on clay, then he will be No:1
Now he is the best on hard court, and he has to continue winning titles.
