    Raonic vs Verdasco II
Have the odds on raonic risen enough to bet on him. The odds started slightly favoring verdasco but now at my book raonic is +187. worth a play?

I'd say yes! Repeat win! Bet the house on it!

So happy he pulled that off- huge win for him.

This canadian kid is the real deal. Good job on Raonic to beat out Verdasco in 3 sets.

LOL...verdasco...dude is a tool...saying clay is where it is at...well verdasco isn't the prototypical dirt baller and has shown an all surface game...so i really don't get his comments

“For me that’s not a real match in tennis,” Verdasco said. “I hope to play soon against him in clay court to show him what it is to play tennis, and play rallies, and run, and not only serve.”

It marked only the fourth time since 2000 that players who met in a final had come back the next week to play each other in the first round. Each time, the winner of the final had gone on to win the first-round match.

Obvious frustration from two losses. Verdasco has played plenty of power players before and not whined about it.

and he is probably right about not doing well on the clay...not many north american men have done well in the past...but to whine like that playing on hard court when verdasco is suppose to be an all around player, that is just garbage

I've been talking about it a little in threads about the Canadian, but I am very curious to see how Raonic is scheduled when the clay season begins. In all honesty since his ranking is still low enough, I think he might be served better to go down to the Challenger Level and cut his chops there rather than likely getting beaten too much on the ATP level. Although I highly doubt it because of what he's doing right now, he may have locked himself into just learning by losing on dirt at the ATP level. He's got two clay matches played in his entire career - both Davis Cup. He actually wasn't horrible against Giraldo - losing in four. But this is a guy who has played I think four total matches on surfaces other than hard courts.

Not a real match... What a sore loser. Verdasco also said:

“There (should) be another league for players like him because it’s another sport when he serves at 145 (mph) all the time and every time … it’s on the line. It’s tough to play like that,” said Verdasco, who as the match went on, became increasingly agitated with his inability to make a dent in Raonic’s service games, even as he held his own with relative ease. “You see him in the locker-room and he takes off his shirt, he has the body of a 12-year-old boy ... I don’t know how he doesn't break his shoulder when he serves.”

That is hilarious! Although i think for 20 the kid is pretty well built. Look at the size of his legs next time anyway

Not that I think that Raonic has a chance against Verdasco on clay BUT...he has been practicing with Almagro on clay and Almagro is a top 5-10 clay courter...so that's good practice.

I'd expect him to have a lighter schedule during the clay swing. Would be stupid if they did not rest him some after a heavy workload here early in 2011 and you'd assume he'll be on a heavy workload in the summer during the US hard court series.
