    Hedging out (in-play)
Just wanted some opinions on hedging out of a bet in play. Today I bet Skogur over almagro @ 8 and after the first set which skogur won, he dropped to about 2.5 in play. I could have hedged out for around 3/4 of the profit if the bet would win. Is this ever a smart play? Should I somehow calculate whether its +EV to hedge out? Or should I always let the bet ride?

It's always smart to try and make money on any bet. The situation you describe is usually one of the best scenarios to insure you win something. If the favorite drops the opening set, but doesn't look terrible - which is what I gathered Almagro did today - reasonably they might still win in 3 but will be offered up at much lower odds than the original line.

I think it really comes down to what you are comfortable with. Taking a big dog like you did, I think hedging is proper in this scenario. If you took a much smaller underdog and they won the first set, it's probably best to let it ride IMO.

In general, you should never hedge as any bet you place pays comission to the book.
