    why do books....????
offer up a better price for the dog to win the match 2-1 rather than straight sets 2-0? I imagine a dog winning over the favourite in straight sets would be a harder feat to accomplish rather than winning 2-1....???

if I were thinking that a dog would have a chance of winning the match I would assume that it would go to 3 sets especially if the fave has a chalk line of like -1100 or something ridiculous like that (of course every match is different but that would be my first intuition)

    thoughts?

oo btw yes the example i put are for the wta

    thanks

It is actually more like for the dog to win in straight sets. In fact, 66% of WTA matches end in two sets. I am not sure what the reason is but many times a top player tanks the second set if he/she loses the first.

oo i see... didnt know that stat but did notice that wta matches end in 2-0 quite a bit just did not know it was that rate

also one more quick question: does the same stat hold true for major tournaments? it would make sense if a top player loses one set they'll tank the next so they can prepare for the next tourney and get some extra rest on a minor tourney than a major one... i would think that they would give it their all til they lose?

      thanks anyways

In fact ATP matches end in two sets 66% as well.
I don't expect players to tank any matches in the Slams, though it happens very often in other top tournamnets.
