    Djokovic retiring in 2 years...
Djokovic closed to within just three of Roger Federer’s all-time Grand Slam record after winning the Australian Open final on Sunday.
He is now considered by most to be the favourite to best both Federer and Rafael Nadal by the end of their careers, and he certainly isn’t hiding his desire to achieve it.
    However, the clock is ticking…
“It is my ambition to win as many of the grand slam titles as I can,” Djokovic added.
“It’s professionally what matters most to me. I would definitely want to play for many more years.
“But I think in order to have a chance for the historic No 1, I am going to try to do everything possible this season and next season maximum.
“That is what I can devote in terms of time and energy towards accomplishing that goal.”
Djokovic says a desire to spend time at home with his young family is the burning reason behind his own personal deadline.
He has two children, the eldest being five-years-old and he is aware the window to see them grow up is closing all the time.

He's not going to retire in 2 years. He retires once he breaks all the records and Nadal/Federer have no shot in catching up. He needs at least 4 more slams which, if we exclude RG, is possible next year @ wimbly. Although, with French getting roofs this year, i can see him winning another French against Nadal.

Federer still has a shot at Wimbledon. But we can already award the US Open to Djokovic.

Not really, US Open would be hardest to win after French Open.

Djoker's ultimate goal will be to win more Grand slam Majors than any other tennis player so far, he will work for this cause and I am more than sure that he will achieve it.

The imperative walk through Australian, shows that he is close to that goal, even without Rolan Garros, he got still the chance to climb that mountain in front of him....

I think it's probably more like a two year plan where he can hopefully play his best tennis and collect as many slams as possible in that time, you would hope at least two in those years (and he already has one for 2020)
That may be where his 'peak' years decline if he will be turning 35 the year after next.

I think his style he may not have the longetivity of Federer but after we saw Federer only lose to Djokovic the last few times he's made it deep in to Wimbledon and he's shown he can beat anyone including Nadal on grass still he may hang around just to try win that one last time, although I feel like that 2019 Final was his last shot and may have been enough to seperate him from his two rivals.

Add to that Djokovic is more likely to win the slam again he has won only once (French Open) compared to Nadal (Australian Open) and Federer (French Open) and its enough of a motivation for him too

I think Federer just plays because he gets the money/endorsements, the most love by far in comparison with his rivals when it comes to crowd support, and a big important one is he plays on the main courts all the time.
If he starts to struggle to consistently make SFs of tournaments I think may call it a day.

The only downside to this, and all the bias aside the media has slowly come to recognise his rivals, and in particular Djokovic as the one who could potentially come out on top of the big three not because of the slam out possibly but because of weeks spent at number one, big titles (masters/slams/YEF) but because of h2h against his rivals as well.
The more Federer loses to him or Nadal potentially and the more he loses the more it dampens things for him in the bigger picture.

Hope Djokovic never catch Federer. Can Thiem take over and start winning 1-2 a year?

I hope too he can, like his style of play and for me,Thiem is the most competitive of them all this moment ( Tsitsipas, Medvedev,Kachanov, Zverev, Rublev to throw a few names on the... court.! )
