Laying 4 G's (if legit) in a 1st round of a masters, not knowing players form/motivation is straight up dumb gambling.

I agree in some way. If you can afford to lose 4 g, go for it. He was convinced that Sandgren would win, and while first rounds usually can be very hard to predict, it's also there where you can get some higher odds than normally, because the bookies don't know the form of the players either.
