Dulgheru +240 (Suarez-Navarro)
A mostly unknown, but rapid ranking riser in the Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru against another young up & comer in Suarez-Navarro. Dulgheru has impressively risen from a ranking of 385 at the end of 2008 to her current rank of 75. She showed her promise by wining the Warsaw clay event in May. That came on the heels of a ton of success at the lower level, getting to a pair of finals in a row in April (winning one). The big question here is can she maintain her success against higher ranked players? Beating Alona Bondarenko in the Warsaw final was her top scalp (#39 at the time). Navarro is currently ranked in the low 30s. Navarro has been up & down on clay this season. She had troubles with her health early in the season and results-wise. Then she went on a nice run in April when she made the finals & semis of consecutive dirt court tourneys. After that, it's been mixed again. Her serve continues to drag her down as it is definitely not a strength. These two players are similar stats-wise in that they both do more on the return than they do on serve.
Not a big play, but for small stakes with no dominant serve - could have a shot.
