I got a question - do you always take the player with the better rating or do you factor the price as well? For example, in the Lisicki-Martic match, the rating you attributed was super close, so shouldn't you bet on the player that has the better price (i think Martic was like 2.3 in some books) as it would offer better value for what seems like a coin-flip in your ratings? usually I do so, but today i chose also Sabine because I know Petra, she is quite good player, but on grass.. mmm she is also too young to keep the pressure.. and Sabine knows how to play, she is above the average.
On the other hand, my rating just "says" tha player A is better than B... i can say is a close match or not, but then, if i win 6-0 6-0 i'm happy the same
later on i will post maybe two or three more picks.. i'm just having a deep look, trying to do my best.

I think the rules said your bracket had to be submit at latest 6 am EST of this morning so I'm afraid it might be too late. I'd check this with shari before putting time and work into submiting your picks, and ask for a refund of points if its too late.

I was at my kick boxing lesson and watching the second set of Zvona, and now I answer
As explained some posts ago, my rating simply matches some values like % of wins, attitude to a specific surface, historical percentage of winning and improvements, and so on. All is resumed in a function that assigns a rating, that of course changes every time a player makes a new match.

Nice calls on the early matches. I know what you're basing your rating numbers on, as you've explained earlier in the thread. I was wondering if you dont have any concern regarding the the small spread between your rating numbers in relation to the low odds in some matches (one of them being this soeda match) for example? I obviously have little understanding of what to exactly make out of your rating numbers other than the larger difference the better. Have you been using this system for a long time successfully?
Forgive me for all the questions, and I'm by no means trying to sound negative, I'm just trying to get a better understanding for it all. Thanks for your efforts Lou, and of course I put a little on Soeda! Nice early break too.
