    Nadal May Miss Wimbledon

MADRID (AFP) — World number one Rafael Nadal could miss Wimbledon because of a knee injury, Spanish sports newspaper 'Marca' reported on Saturday.

Toni Nadal, the reigning Wimbledon champion's uncle and coach, said the 23-year-old had a damaged right knee and was doubtful for the Grand Slam which starts on June 22, the paper said.

"We have taken him out of the Queen's tournament (June 8-14) and will do everything possible to get him there, but this is subject to medical tests," Toni Nadal said.

"There is something wrong with his knee but right now we are uncertain what the problem is," he added.

Alarm bells rang among the player's entourage in April's Miami tournament when the four-times French Open winner Nadal complained of a severe pain in his right knee.

He reported the same problem after Swede Robin Soderling knocked him out of the French Open at Roland Garros this week.

"Rafa's body has simply said: enough!" the paper said.

The latest injury scare is not connected with the persistent tendonitis suffered by the player.

Nadal is currently resting at his home town of Manacor on the island of Mallorca and will undergo detailed medical tests from Monday.

I'll give him credit. He never used this as an excuse for losing. Still you had to think there was something wrong with him even with as good as Soderling was that day. Federer will be a ridiculous chalk favorite when Wimbledon futures come out if Nadal won't be there. Probably at least -200 I would think, maybe even more along Nadal's -300 for the French.

LOL, how convenient (and hilarious that he showed no ill effects vs Soderling).

What a little you know what.

I just lost all respect for him, how dare he make this announcement NOW? Unbelievable.

Nadal loves tennis and plays a lot of tournaments. He is taking off the warm up for Wimbledon and possibly missing Wimbledon altogether and you want to criticize him? How stupid is that?

It's Lou. He's in love with Roger, so anything that his nemesis does makes Lou sick.

Please, his knee is fine. He's taking some time off because his world is crushed right now, he finally got knocked off his pedestal for the first time and is reacting to it. He's going to relax with his girlfriend Xylopohone for a while and try to forget about how he was backhanded out of his best tournament like a little woman in the 4th round.

I still don't understand why Nadal didn't have his knees taped up during the French. Did he have his knees taped up during the Madrid tourney? This guys plays a very physical game and he's been playing a lot of matches this year. You have to like Roger to reclaim his Wimby title.

Nadal handles losing better than Federer. He don't break down and cry like a little girl. If he is hurt then he is hurt. With his style of play and dumb schedule making it was bound to happen sooner than later anyways.

                      And you know this how?

He may have been humiliated by Robin Soderling, but that's so unexpected that any emotion would likely manifest itself as shock.

Had he lost in the finals to Federer, that may have caused some tears as the moment would be far more emotional, more buildup involved, more need for a release etc.

Lou was wrong in this thread, just like normal. it couldn't be anymore clear that Nadal is legit hurt.
