Serena Williams upset by Kuznetsova in 3 sets at Miami Open

Quite a few of us have been talking about Serena's recent poor performances in tournaments lately. This is a good chance to capitalize on some beefy lines against her.

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) — Serena Williams had been out of the tournament for less than 20 minutes when she climbed into her white Mini Cooper with the checkerboard top and pulled away from the players' parking lot, fastening her seat belt as she drove.

A hasty departure, for sure.

Williams' 20-match winning streak at Key Biscayne ended Monday with a 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-2 loss to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the fourth round of the upset-filled Miami Open.

Williams was bidding for her ninth title in the event and her fourth in a row. But after a grueling first set that lasted nearly an hour, the 21-time Grand Slam champion faded on a sweltering afternoon.

How are you going to capitalize on that after she lost ? Also, she will probably go on a tear on clay.

I had Kuznetsova +6. Unfortunately it was parlayed with Murray.

I was thinking we would still get good odds on her opponents based upon her reputation only.

Nah, not sure about the lines being inflated. If anything, there might be value on Serena to win her first tourney soon.

Serena loved clay in recent years, so this is probably her best chance to win some, including RG. Also, Azarenka, A-Rad, Kvitova and a bunch of others are not that good on clay. And Sharapova who is pretty decent on clay has been DQ'ed. Really, Serena should do well @RG if she has anything left in the tank. In fact, I might take a look at the RG futures for Serena. Maybe wait to see how she starts her first clay tourney and then decide. +225 right now.

Also, about that particular loss: conditions were brutal, and Kuzzy knows how to play Serena. She is probably one of the handful of players who can take Serena on any given day, and Kuzzy is a multi-Slam winner. Apart from that loss, Serena lost in two finals this year to Aza and Kerber. Those were upsets for sure, but not real huge upsets.
