Hmm, that would suck. I thought she would have had a decent chance at RG this year. But, she said a few years ago that she wanted to retire early and make babies while she is young.

I would if I were her, dealing with all these nagging injuries, pretty much peaked out in terms of her placement in WTA history.

28 years old and worth well over $100M. Sure she's ready to start a new chapter in her life

It would probably be at the end of the year I imagine and not effective immediately.
Although many seem to retire close to immediately like Pennetta/Henin/Bartoli

Really do hope she gets the last laugh against Serena as unlikely as it is.

Oh my this would make a lot of sense if I say so myself! Girls should do this more often to take a year off and recharge their battery. Candace Parker of WNBA comes to mind but I am sure there are many others who did this same thing.

Blah, lots of them are taking some stuff. Stosur, Giorgi, Serena, etc., you do not get a body like that w/out some sort of pharma help. If I remember correctly, Serena hid from a tester in her closet a few years back.

Looks like she will be retiring anyway, a minimum 2-year suspension. Maybe she will come back 5 years from now play doubles, Hingis style (who was also suspended on some bogus charge).
