Didnt see that match, I saw some others. I see by the scoring in the 3rd set there was some long games, I guess some of those games could have gone either way.

These are truly garbage WTA tourneys. Some interesting action might start in the semis, when these girls might realize they have a chance to win their first WTA tourney. But then again, I have no idea who most of these girls are and how they play, LOL.

yes the language of "defending" points is notional but unless she
wins those points somewhere else, she will have that many less points.

typically when a player does well at a tournament in the prior year,
they are motivated to "defend" those points in the present.
after a full year goes by, however, those points are already flushed out.

Thought it was a rolling 52week system where in singles WTA count their best 16 results (but must include grand slams)? So if last year's QF loss was one of her best then her ranking would drop for this year's early exit?
