She isn't a hair away from No. 1, Safina has basically no points to defend till clay season and Jankovic didn't have good results till Indian Wells. Plus she's right now about 1000 points behind the No. 1 spot and if Safina wins, she's about 1600 points ahead of her. That's more than a hair.

She needs the other player to choke like e.g. Kuznetsova. Referring to Jankovic is not a good idea, Jankovic doesn't have the strokes of most of the other top players, but she's consistent most of the times, well atleast since the time she was No. 1. (remember her getting bageled and breadsticked against Jankovic after winning the first set 6-0...I'll never forget that match, that was unbelievable choking)
