Lot higher chance for Simon imo. He can hit flat and hard, with insane accuracy - we've seen so many times that's the perfect recipe to beat Nadal on hard courts. He's also got a backhand that won't break down under Nadal's topspin, and can play near error free tennis. Nadal will have to attack him, and that's not a role he's totally comfortable with.

What Simon lacks is experience at this level, but his progress has been so rapid over the last 6 months it may not necessarily matter.

I think Simon gets a set if he is lucky. I think Nadal has probably gotten as little press as any #1 seed in quite some time in a major. He's been going through routinely while Federer's comeback drew big attention as well as Murray and Djokovic losing. Nadal is all business here. The price is horrible, but if Nadal doesn't get it done here - he probably won't have a much better shot at making the semis in Australia.

Won't be surprised if Kuznetsova gets blown out in the 3rd.

Well, the old rule of Nadal at hard court slams: he always loses to the first decent player he meets. He's never beaten a top 10 player, not even come close. Certainly no guarantee to the future of course, but he's over-rated every single year at these events and trips up every time to a flat hitter. Simon very definitely has the game to be this year's bananaskin. Nadal is still favourite sure, but -800 is absurd imo.


On another note, Tsonga's price has fallen pretty sharply since the roof news came out, -205 or so.
