Betting Recap w Doc: Another Good Week For Books, NFL 1, NCAAF 2, Doc Slams A Poster
Doc, the Head Linesman at legends Sportsbook, recaps the past week's betting action with SBRForum personality Peter Loshak.

The books enjoyed a second good week to start the season, with dogs covering in college and some faves losing in the NFL. Doc also comments on the "Pinny Lean" for the New England/Tennessee game.

Call me crazy, but I enjoy the "Doc from Legends" segment from SBR, and I listen to it every week. I disagree with the poster who is critical of the show. If he says "who gives a shit if the books won or loss," well, I do. The segment every week is unique, Loshak asks some insightful questions, and Doc tries to be as candid as he can be under the circumstances. I know he has better things to do than take time out from his busy day to talk to us. Call me stupid, but I always learn something I didn't know from this segment each week. It's not in Billy Walters' best interest nor Doc's to tell us what the 'sharp' plays are before the games are played. Besides, 'sharps' drop some big money on big games as well oftentimes. I don't know if Doc is superstitious or not, but just one time I would like him to start off the conversation with something other than, "Always a pleasure, Peter." Although I must admit that listening to the show is for me always a pleasure. Thanks Doc! Thanks Peter!

They are the exact same numbers, but just look different. No matter which way you bet, or even tease.

                            Pinnacle had...

                            Patriots -5 (-102/-111)
                            Patriots -5.5 (+102/-116)
                            Patriots -6 (+110/-125)

                            SIA: Titans +5.5 (+100)
                            Bovada: Titans +6 (-110)
                            Legends: Titans +5 (-110)

For (-5.5) +102/-116 fair value is +108.48/-108.48 meaning someone who uses the Pinnacle lean would need to get Titans +5.5 (-108) to even consider placing "a nickel" on them.

The only books who offered +5.5 with an edge is SIA at +5.5 (+100), with about a 4.07% edge. This was the biggest edge for any Titans game bet on SBROdds, meaning any SBR users (not from the USA unless they have a grandfathered account) looking to place bets on Titans will be going to that shop. Bovada gave you the most points in a +EV wager at +6, however that number was only a 2.8% edge after factoring in the juice (-110).

For (-5) Pinnacle offered-102/-111, with a fair value of (+104.18/-104.18). Legends was offering us +5 (-110) at close. This line gave Legends (not the player) a 2.59% edge on any Titans bet (and a 6.5% edge on a Patriots bet at -5 -110), once again assuming Pinnacle is the market.

I "think" what he meant was that while most places were inundated with big and numerous New England plays and tried to fend this off with 5½ and even -6 (for those with guts and a wont to move faster and more daring in their quest to balance the action), while bookmakers were pulling their hair out hoping for Tennesee money, along came Pinnacle who moved their line in the opposite direction to an amazing -4½! This was akin to being punched in the face and then asking your attacker to please punch you again. I agree with Doc that it was shocking to see when it happened and just flew in the face of everybody elses situation. I mean sure everybody knew Tennessee was the sharp side, but Pinnacle was just begging for New England money. I sure hope they got their wish. I would also like to compliment goblue 12s posting explaining the different percentages and returns to both player and book of the various numbers that were posted. SBR John gave him a well-deserved point or something for this post, and he certainly did deserve it. Thank you for your post goblue 12.
