Advertising material is not permitted on the forum or via PM. If Griffin wishes to advertise at SBR he can contact a staff member to be put in touch with the appropriate person.

Really?? Was it nessceary to post this offer publicly?

The man offers current posters (at various forums) who are signed up @1vice a gift, and you post it publicly. I mean if you felt SBR admins need to be aware of this, by all means notify them via PM. But posting the offer publicly just creates more headaches for the Guy (from posters who didn't get the offer).

As far as griffin goes, say what you will about the shops he's promoted in the past, but the Guy is a marketing genius by the standards set by most books. He offers free money just to keep his books brand out there in forumland. Truely in the same league as Shrink was and the braintrust at SBR remains.

Sometimes the little guys came up with the best promos. I'm just waiting on a book to send me a bottle of Scotch again for my deposit...just finished off the last of the bottle of the good stuff BO sent last January. Back to JW red for me I guess.

Fwiw- I seriously doubt they thought this would last a week, so a few fifty dollar freeplays right before football was a genius move to sucker players in.

Even better if it makes forums, who they pay nothing to, look like censors. Not saying I blame any forum who removes the offending pic from posters, they have long standing sponsors to think of. I can't show up for work wearing shirts advertising anything I like when I meet with customers/clients.

To be fair djeffris and bigdaddy - If you had switched your avatars and I noticed that people were doing it all at the same time, I would've banned you for awhile. You guys know better than this. Instead cutter got his avatar changed to my favourite and no infractions/bannings were issued. If a book feels this is a good way to advertise, more power to them. But please don't be the suckers who fall for this for the chance at a free play. I actually really enjoy talking to Griffin but this was not one of his better thought out plans - at least at SBR.

Why would I blast you? A rules in place I wasn't aware of and you acted accordingly. Of course I will mention the continued support for the frauds at B-O-L is disgusting and asinine but I'm powerless to change money motivated decisions.

I'm not pimping 1Vice or anything, but when you get an email saying you can have a $50 freeplay every week it's worth considering, but at the same time I don't want to tick anybody off running the show at SBR. Don't worry. This is all harmless and just kinda funny. The avatar wouldnt have lasted a few posts anyway. BTW, I meant post the message from 1vice but no worries.

It's pretty common for books to try to work the forums. Known posters will get hooked up with extra bonuses or comps and lead to think it's because the book is just full of good guys but they are motivated by sending an advocate for them out in the forum wild. Usually they aren't as obvious as 1vice. The marketing guys they have are pretty new to the whole thing and make Americasbookie and bet33 look bad.
