Post Crash Financial Health of Sports Books
    Hello:

The financial crash and the loss of 8 trillion dollars of wealth
in the stock market must have some affect on people in deciding how much to place in the sports books.

Does anyone know how the betting industry did during the
last great depression of the 1930s?

Is there a way that we can get the sports books to be audited
by an accounting firm so that we know their inner financial health?

Do any of the sports books make available an audited statement by an independent accounting firm of their financial health if we ask for one?

This is important for the sports bettor who approaches sports betting as a serious investment and not as gamblers who do this for sporadic fun.

    Thanks for all the feedback,

First off, Welcome to the SBR forum

A lot of books overseas are publicly held stocks. So there reports are all on file sir.

I don't know about offshores, but it makes it tougher in Vegas. Books don't want to take a big bet, and sweat the action a lot more. Liquidity is down.

Race tracks and movies both did very well in the thirties during the great depression.

People wanted some form or escape, even if just for a few hours. I doubt if gambling handle will drop.

It very well could effect the economy though Peep. I mean what happens if people start selling the stock they own in publicly traded gaming companies. That would cause reason for cut backs within the businesses, which in turn could result into books to close up shop.

Keeneland is down about 10% this year.

I'm thinking the Breeders Cup this year will be a flop, handle wise.

The synthetic surface, and economy will create the perfect storm.

Also, they eliminated the super for the Classic, can you believe that?

They are forcing people to play the super high 5.

            What a joke.
