I believe he's right. I'm an east coast guy so I don't really know what things are like out west (and be aware that when I say out west I mean anything west of Tennessee :-D ) but I totally believe that besides NJ, we will also see sports betting in the very near future in Connecticut and Delaware.

Florida doesn't have the moxie to legalize table games so I doubt they'll allow sports. Massachusetts legalized gambling about 18 months ago and established up to 3 licenses for full casinos, with the caveat that those casinos would need approval from the local community. But things always take impossibly long in Massachusetts and not a single casino has even so much as gotten permission from any local community.

North Carolina just recently legalized table games to go with the slots, but AFAIK they only have that one casino way out west of Charlotte. I can't honestly say I've ever gambled in Pennsylvania but from what I understand, they're another state which would be quick to legalize sports.

I think the interview is misleading. His proposal would allow casino games to be played via internet in NJ, sports betting at physical casinos only, and horse bets to be placed from devices at tracks. It would not allow online sports wagering. Yet I don't think the interviewer understands this, and she makes no real effort to clarify during the interview.

I think you're over analyzing. The point we wanted State Senator Lesniak to address, because the distinction hasn't been hammered home by sites who have reported of "online gambling legalization", is that in fact, not much is changing. It's going to be another niche for Atlantic City casinos, "sit at the pool or in a restaurant & bet blackjack on your cell phone or laptop.".
