    5Dimes secure?

I signed up with an account, and later that day the email I used to sign up with (and to talk with live chat help) was sending junk spam emails to people in my address book. Almost like it got hacked. Whats up with that?

You wouldn't log in to your email from 5Dimes so unless you are using the same password at 5D as you are in your email the two wouldn't be connected.

Are you using hotmail? There have been cases where hotmail address books are picked off and the spammer uses the source hotmail account as the from field even though they come from elsewhere.

Its gmail with a different password. I almost never use the account. All of a sudden I sign up at 5dimes and it gets spammed. I'm kind of worried now.

It's not possible for people to get inside your email from giving them your email address. Run a virus scan and make sure your network is secure.

You could have some spyware or something on your computer. That could be sending out spam emails. Always make sure your virus software is up to date on the DAT files. Also, I recommend a software firewall and if your router has one, turn it on. Make sure if you have wireless, to make sure it is secured.

No viruses, no spyware, After I got myself first email from 5dimes after talking to live support it happened. Maybe its just an odd timed coincidence.

I'm also concerned about 5 Dimes security. Not sure if it's related, but I got my yahoo email and 5 Dimes accounts hacked into yesterday and they tried to do a sportsbook transfer. Fortunately, 5 Dimes did a great job in recognizing what was going on and Tony was very helpful and responsive. But I'm still unsure as to how they gained access to my accounts.

there is one security problem with 5dimes - they ask you for password in live chat. it's a potential security loophole.
