Boavda refusing to pay or refund my wager of $450
    Hello,

I made a bet with Bovada on 3/11/2012. The wager was a $450 wager to win $300 on Jared Sullinger to get over 8.5 rebounds in a college basketball game. Sullinger ended the game with 9 rebounds. Every single sports reporting website besides one has the official score of him with 9 rebounds but for some reason ncaa.com has his final rebound total as 8. I called support when I saw that the bet appeared as a loss in my account and was told by the agent I would get it credited as a win as it had changed to a win in their system. He said he would call me back and never did. Later yesterday afternoon after hours had passed since he said he would call me back, I called back again and spoke with someone else. They put me on hold and then came back claiming they would not pay out the bet. This agents name was Dario if I recall correctly. He claimed that ncaa.com was the only official website Bovada went by and I told him how come it does not say that then in the terms and conditions. I also told him earlier when I called they had agreed to pay my wager. He did not even answer my questions. I asked multiple times to be connected with a manager and was refused each time. I then lastly explained that a friend of mine made the same bet and got refunded and was told by the manager James that they would do the same for other players. He said that this player surely would not be paid back his wager and that even if he was given his wager back that during the night or at another time the wager would be taken back from him and most likely he would not notice. I was very suprised he would make a statement like this to me even if it was true which seems very irresponsible.

Does it state in their Terms and Conditions anywhere that they will only use that specific site for grading purposes?

No it does not. If it did I would be fine with their decision even though it would still be frustrating. However it does not and now when it is the only site that goes in their favor they claim this is their policy. I am sure if it was the other way around and espn was the only site that supported them they would have chosen espn as their "official" site.

Thank you for the advice. I did that right before I posted this thread so hopefully they will get back to me soon on this.

Interesting.....If it does not state anywhere that they use ncaa.com as their main "go-to", then you have a very strong case in my opinion. ESPN has Jared listed as 9 rebounds as well.....I scrolled through the play by play of the match, and Jared comes down with 8 rebounds, but is indeed credited with 9 at the end of the game. No doubt the root of the issue for yourself is the play with 11:41 remaining in the second half, which is listed as "Ohio State Offensive Rebound." I didn't watch the game, but seeing as Sullinger had just taken a shot moments earlier, I'm assuming he ended up grabbing the rebound in a mad scramble or something.....

Anyway, I would file a complaint with SBR if Bovada refuses to budge. I like your chances of getting their decision reversed. Good luck. FWIW, here is ESPN's play by play:

Play-by-play action for the Michigan State Spartans vs. Ohio State Buckeyes NCAAM game from March 11, 2012 on ESPN.

Greg, not to hijack your thread, but you'll be interested to know that they do not. I'm not sure if you checked yourself or if this was what the Bovada agent told you, but just like every site reporting on this match, ncaa.com credits Sullinger with 9 rebounds as you can see below.....

Thank you for the information. This must have changed because when I originally checked they had it listed at 8. Now that it is 9 they have no case. Hopefully this is settled soon.

Lou emailed me back saying in a dispute they go by NCAA.com because it is the "official" website. I responded with this new evidence that on the official NCAA site it now has him with 9 rebounds. Hopefully will hear back soon.

What happens if I have a wager dispute?
The management of Bovada Poker, Casino and Sportsbook monitors all bets to aid in properly settling disputes. Records of all transactions are saved to a file on a backup system. Therefore, in the case of betting disputes, both the management of Bovada Poker, Casino and Sportsbook and the player agree that the transaction log database shall serve as the final authority in disputes involving Internet bets. Contests must be lodged within three days of an event outcome being determined. No claims will be honored after this three-day period. Players are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of all their account transactions.

                          just a heads up.... gl

I am still getting the run around when I call myself. Hopefully I can get this sorted out with SBR before the 3 day period expires since the bet was booked on March 11th.

Once you send them the complaint, that should start the "3 day window." And a 3 day window is ridiculous anyway, a book can put ridiculous terms in the T&C and SBR would not side with them in certain cases. There's no reason they shouldn't give you 30 days to dispute.

They used to audit their grades

Somewhat relevant, I had a week go by where I had missed an incorrect grade as a loss and didnt notice it, About a week later they had adjusted it to make things right. But, this was a long time ago when they were under the Bodog brand.
Keep us posted and best wishes.

I got an email from bovada this morning saying they are going to pay me. I have a feeling if ncaa.com had not corrected the number of rebounds themself I would have been screwed.

We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with Bovada Customer Service.

We have confirmed that all props on this wager have been properly re-settled, based on NCAA's updated result of 9 rebounds for Jared Sullinger. We assure you we settle our wagers according to official results and sometimes as these results are revised, settled wagers will be re-settled accordingly. There was some confusion in this particular situation and ncaa.com changed this result several times. As such, wagers placed on this were adjusted accordingly. That all being said, you should now see the correct results in your account so if this is not the case, please PM us your account number and we'd be happy to have someone look into this further.
