Do most bookmakers inform you by mail if they cancel a bet?

It's almost impossible to generalize about sportsbooks. Every book has its own rules and policies.

No book is "required" to do so, however, as they are basically free to set their own rules.

Ideally that would be how they handled it. Some use account messaging. Sometimes you wont get one at all but the book can see on their end if you viewed your pending bets. Sometimes the player will wait to see the outcome before complaining.

There is no reason why the books can not email you if they cancel a bet. They have your email contact information. If the wager was placed over the net then the same system could easily do this within a few minutes of the book cancelling the bet. Its called being above board...something few books care to be.

Most do not, but the books that solicit deposits via email should email if a wager is cancelled IMO.
