Where should U.S. players open an account?
I hope this isn't coming off as a tired beaten subject, I can't seem to get a clear picture.

I hadn't wagered in sports or played poker for about 6 months now.
I did know about the events with the poker sites but didn't bother to check in on the sportsbook industry. Boy am I glad I stayed away since I used BetEd a lot.

So my problem is there seems to be some people saying any .com site is at risk. Then there are some people who seem to think BetJam and Greek are safe.

As far as a U.S. player goes, where do I open my new account? If it's still up in the air I really don't want to bother. Having my money held in limbo isn't a pleasant thought.

And does it matter what state I'm in or is that just a New York issue? I'm in California.

    I would appreciate any help.

WSBetter, look around the forum a bit, there's some good info out there about this already. In the meantime, take a look at this thread that was started about a week ago. It's pretty much the same question and discussion, and it should help you out quite a bit.

Sports betting and handicapping forum: discuss picks, odds, and predictions for upcoming games and results on latest bets.

In short, if you stick to the SBR Recommended List books, you should be just fine.

    Good luck!

I personally dont think there is a 100% solid gold answer. The best thing you can do is open accounts in only the trusted sportsbooks (BetJam,5dimes,Greek,Bookmaker etc) and it would probably be smart to keep your balances on the smallish side. If you run it up to a large amount then cashout to keep your balance low. Im sure someone can come on here and tell you that everything is safe and secure but sometimes the shit hits the fan, so have a raincoat on ahead of time.

This is a good question. I would say Betjm/The Greek but I haven't been gambling much lately.

          Hi WS Better,

The forum is a great place to get sportsbook feedback. I might also suggest reading the official SBR sportsbook reviews to see if any information inside those are helpful in making your decision.

Thank you for the feedback. I know there will always be risks considering the U.S. Government's stance. I guess I was seeking the pre-raid risk level. I appreciate it.

a good bank, and save your $$.

I dont care if you play/offshore or local, there is some degree of risk of a bust/losing funds. Offshore processors get busted, locals get busted or go stiff all the time (but you dont read about it here as its not national news).

deposit what your comfortable losing in a day or week, no more

The Greek or 5 dimes should be good.
