[Resolved] Did BetOnline screw me here?

On November 11th, of 2022 I placed a wager at BetOnline that Donald Trump would be indicted. I got the YES price at +150. What's important to know about this wager is, I placed this wager 7 days BEFORE Special Counsel Jack Smith was assigned to the investigations. Once Jack Smith was assigned on November 18th, the YES Line at BetOnline moved to +110 on November 19th, as you can see in the screenshot below, taken from a thread here at SBR:

As you can see, the date of the post is 11-19-2022. This is exactly 8 days after I made my wager. The Line has now moved 40 cents, and it's because of Jack Smith, that's to be expected. But here's the main thing you need to pay attention to here, see where it says TRUMP INDICTED BEFORE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION.

Well, that's what I thought my wager was for as well, because it made sense for the price I got, as well as all the other Line movements that I also posted in the same thread. Well, come January, I noticed my wager had disappeared. So I went into BetOnline chat and asked them where my wager went. And they told me it had been removed due to a "Bad Line". And I was like WTF?? Then the next day I got this email from them:

"This is Leroy from the Solutions Team and I hope you are doing well.

We saw that you contacted us over Live Chat regarding your wager. I personally reviewed your claim and I am very sorry but the wager escalated was refunded as a result of the line being a bad line. Please do accept my sincerest apologies for this inconvenience.

However, as per rule #25 BetOnline cannot be held responsible for any computer, typing, or human error when posting odds, lines or point spreads. In the case of obvious mechanical, technical, or human error in the prices or conditions we publish, we reserve the right, at our discretion, to correct obvious errors and to No-Action your wager. All lines determined to have been available past post will be settled “No Action”. https://help.betonline.ag/knowledge-...betting-rules/

We hope that this resolution leaves you happier with our service.

If you are still experiencing any difficulties regarding this same issue, please do not hesitate to contact us again."

But as it turns out, they never cancelled my wager at all. They graded it as a LOSS as seen below.

Now what I can't figure out is, how in the hell do they expect this wager to cash in 59 days WITHOUT a Special Counsel in place, and they price it at +150???? Especially considering in the HISTORY of the U.S. there's NEVER been a former President indicted EVER. They knew damn well, that my wager, just like ALL the rest of the wagers being offered at BetOnline, were "Trump indicted before Next General Election." I highly suspect that they didn't payout to anyone that happened to bet NO on November 11th.

I filed a complaint to BMR on March 6th, but I never heard anything back from them. Initially, I filed a complaint due to the "Bad Line", because that's the BS BetOnline was telling me initially, until I realized they actually graded it as a Loss. I just wanted my wager reinstated, that's it. OR at the VERY least, for them to give me my money back.

The +150 price I got is consistent with all the other prices that stated "Trump indicted before Next General Election." And keep in mind, I placed my wager 7 days BEFORE Special Counsel Jack Smith was assigned to the case. So what do you think, did they screw me?

First two questions I have are what exactly Leroy considers bad about the bet line, and why it is graded a loss and not a void.

Need to know those two things.

I agree with you that they had no right to cancel the wager. But, to say it was refunded when it was actually graded a loss is heinous. They should withdraw from the sports book industry if they intend to steal money like that.

This would not fly in a regulated market.

I'm baffled by this as well. The only thing I'm thinking is, maybe they cancelled those that bet NO? I think for the first few days they started offering the wager, they didn't give an exact time stamp on it eg "Trump indicted before next general election." But I'm not exactly sure when they first started offering the wager.

I tried reasoning with them as best as I could, but no luck.

I also ran into this problem with BMR. I never heard anything back from them, EVER. And then one day I went to the site and it said "Forum account restricted. If you believe this suspension is in error, please write to forum@therx.com"

I thought this was odd because I've never once left a post at BMR. So, I sent them an email and never heard anything back. So I sent them another one. Finally, Hache Man replies, I ask him why I've been suspended and he tells me, there is no one with an account at BMR named JohnGalt2341 nor johngalt2341(for some reason they lowered my J and G). Yet, as you can see below, I clearly have an account there. So, maybe they never got my initial complaint? I don't know what the deal is.

Wow. I won't mince words, IMO this being graded as a loss/bad line is complete bullshit here. Might as well be a scam

I'm always wary about betting certain props because they can be weaseled out of, but this one is simply ridiculous. Your wager is a clear winner and totally fair based on when you made it

It sounds like an error to me. The loss part at very least.

I will PM you some info to try.

JG - It was never a bad line because I believe other sportsbooks had this as well. I was keeping an eye on it. I don't have screenshots for proof but I remember that was the number... maybe $5-$10 either way from sportsbook to sportsbook. But certainly not an error.

It's absolutely terrible BOL offers all these propositions... and then when it comes to grading... they are never accurate. I hope you get your money JG. All the best.

Galter, looks to me like your bet should be a winner. Hopefully you get paid in the end but it is ridiculous you have to devote time and energy to this now.

just checked on their site, the currently available "Hillary Clinton To be Indicted?" bet also comes with a "Will Hillary Clinton receive any Federal indictment before the end of 2023?" info tag. So this probably was the case for the Trump bet as well then.

I got your message. Thanks. However,

#1 Where does it say "Trump indicted Before the end of 2022"?

#2 If it HAD been Trump indicted Before the end of 2022, do you REALLY think it would have been priced at +150???? on November 11th 2022??(keep in mind, there was no Special Counsel in place at this time, AND no U.S. President has EVER been indicted in the HISTORY of the U.S.)

#3 Here's the most important question of them all, if it ACTUALLY was for the end of 2022, the NO price would have been somewhere in the range of -200 to -250. How many bettors do you think would have been betting on the NO at that time? Answer: EVERYONE. But people weren't betting it because they didn't know it was a 2022 deadline.

    Here's 8 days later.

And now as you can see, it's clearly "Before the next General Election". The price has moved 40 cents BECAUSE Jack Smith has been assigned to the case. The timeline for when the bet can be won should be the same. Had MY wager had a deadline of at the end of 2022, it would have had to have been priced at something like +800 or something like that, or maybe even higher. That's the only way for it to make sense. OR, my wager should have also been for "Before the next General Election", because it's consistent with all the rest of the other prices that say "Before the next General Election", that I also posted in the same thread.

How does the price move ONLY 40 cents when you get BOTH a Special Counsel AND an additional 2 years for your bet to cash? That's one hell of good deal.

I think OP has a good point here.

I mean the odds of -150 is way off considering the fact that no ex-president has ever been indicted ever and it has to happen in less than 2

    months.

I would have jumped all over the oppsite side "no" which the odds would be around +100????

It looks like they have reimbursed the $100 now. Optional helped me get my $100 back. They still didn't grade it as a Win, which sucks, but lesson learned I suppose. Next time I will know to tell them to put a damn time stamp on their offers. Thanks a bunch Optional!

And, I also just placed 4th in the SBR College Basketball pool, and it just happens to pay $150. So, I guess it all worked out. Thanks a bunch SBR Andy!

In my experience you should screenshot every bet you ever make at BOL. I have seen winning wagers just "disappear".
