    Fairlay sucks

Using the fairlay.com site to place bets. I ran into a glitch on two separate occasions that costed me around 0.1 BTC in losses. Here's how it occured:

    - Type in name of team in search box to find upcoming event to bet on.
    - Locate the match, select for or against and try to place 30 mbtc bet. Hit PLACE to make bet.
    - Bet doesnt go through and returns prompt message saying "unable to place bet at this time."
    - Check both balance and matched orders page and no evidence bet was placed.
    - Go back to match and try to place bet again, same result as above.
    - Go back to match and try to place smaller bet and NOW this smaller bet goes through successfully. Both balance and matched orders page reflect this.
    - Match ends up losing.
    - A DAY LATER my balance isnt what it should be. Check settled orders page and those two 30mbtc failed bet attempts show as LOSS along with the last bet that was actually placed successfully.

Fairlay acknowledged in chat that it had betting issues and claimed to warn users to proceed with caution What they should have done was close the site down until the bug was fixed.
Fairlay claimed it could not refund me for the glitch because they werent the market maker and said they would ask the market maker to do the right thing (FOR A PROBLEM THAT WAS SOLELY CAUSED BY FAIRLAY)

This incident began xmas and its 7th Jan with no further correspondence by Fairlay.

After investigating this website I'd say they have a 1% chance of not paying me back. For others without my resources, CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Market maker has zero responsibility to refund you and it would not be the "right thing to do" as I'm sure you wouldn't be running to Fairlay to give them the go ahead to refund the market maker in the case that your bets had won.

It boggles my mind that why anyone would place a bet when they had a huge banner across the top of their site acknowledging issues and saying "proceed at your own risk". Why not just wait until that was resolved? Yes I lost a couple days of betting there as well but I did not bet when that was up.

Blame here is twofold. OP for "proceeding at his own risk" and Fairlay for not just taking the site offline if something like this could happen. Hopefully in the future Fairlay will just take their site offline so there is no ambiguity or chance of situations like this

    Fairlay:

"Our site might be under attack"

"It's not working properly, but you can still use it if you like"

They get a zero out of 10 on professionalism.

You are arguing using incomplete information. I received these bet error messages sometimes as well on games that ended up winning but there were no magical bets appearing the next day with wins credited to my balance. After this small sample size of behavior I had every reason to believe fairlay was market making themselves just like a traditional book and pulled these glitches sporadically on losing bets only. Then I thought who in their mind would continue to use a site that does something as underhanded as that (see bookmaker bet glitches to find out who) and then I notice there is another exchange called JG on their run by Danshan that they were encouraging me to use instead as it "works" (but it does not on chrome android...most buttons don't even work) and any sensible person has got to conclude this thing is so poorly ran they couldn't be making any money nor do they expect to.

I never saw any banner or announcement of betting problems anywhere on their website during normal use. I told them I was using chrome on android. Chat even recommended API usage so if one was using API how would they be able to read banners? API has no graphic user interface.

I would have never bet if I i was given any notice at all. Are you clued in now? Fairlay is trash.

Similar thing happened to me months ago and lost thousands over it. I had bet on big underdog a good amount. He was up a set and a break and was now big favorite. I tried to hedge the bet 4-5 times. No bet was matched. Checked my pending wagers/balance everything. About an hour after the match ended all the bets went through so I basically hedges like 5 times. And of course my hedge was a loser. A match I was way ahead on now. I had to take a loss on. Support said nothing they cash do. Ended up compensating me like 25% of my losses. They tricked me into accepting by saying that they would refund my losses with a 25% bonus. Whatever. I stopped playing there awhile ago.

They did make a couple tweets not too long after the issue arose just saying they are aware of the problem and working to resolve it. Disconcerting to say the least.

Fairlay sucks for real.they have bugs that will cost you money,I deposited 300$ just to check them out. They credited in bitcoin around 260$.There is no liquidity even for the top tier games.
Plus they waited 12 hours to credit my account and of course took the lowest conversion. Now that i want to cash out i think is like 50$ in bitcoin as withdrawal fee. This site is a total rip off.

Anyone from the US currently using stake? If so, any issues? Curious as to how the experience has been?

Disregard as I just saw the recent thread on stake. I'll redirect my questions there.

You're going to have to explain what you mean here. I deposit bitcoin and get the exact amount of bitcoin because there is no conversion. Do they offer another deposit type?

I deposited to my bitcoin wallet exchange 300 usd and till the time I transfered to fairlay it was 260$ on the current conversation.
Anyways fairlay has 0 value poor odds, you can get way better value of your bet somewhere else.and the liquidity is extremely low.Who ever don't believe me can check at themselves even for Barcelona match today max you could match with terrible odds in a certain market was 0.20 Mbtc where at betfair is on hundreds of thousands and with top odds.

Fairlay is one of the worst places to bet
    Poor graphic also.

I just looked and plenty of liquidity just as game went off. Your a bit confused as your issue of losing $40 is not a fairlay issue but your fees you paid in your wallet prior to sending or fees to buy. Whatever you deposit into Fairlay you get there is no conversion deposit 2 MBTC you get 2 MBTC you get exactly what is deposited just like every Crypto Book. The funds stay in Crypto. Your right the site is buggy with high fee to withdrawl but your case they ripped you off $40 on deposit and no liquidity on Barcelona pre game is wrong.

Man ok it might have been my exchange who took the fee but anyways it is no point for me to bet there where I can get odds like 1.98-1.98 at pinnacle and agents. And I just checked too this place has almost zero liquidity especially for non USA sports and when there is nothing to match because you can get better value odds somewhere else.
Plus they have the highest withdrawal fees among crypto bookies/exchanges.
I should have taken a screenshot about that line at Barcelona match and comparing it to Betfair. It was just 0.20 MBTc where at Betfair is on hundred thousands $

"No use for it" is pretty harsh. Yes, the software sucks. But I'm willing to look past that if there are money making opportunities. And that's why I'll continue to use it.
