    Beware of BOVADA!

Hey fellas, its March and a lot of you are coming out to start betting and getting back into things. I got a hell of a story about Bovada for you that hopefully will dissuade you from considering to use their cheating bookmaker.

I just had the worst experience with Bovada. I am a long time SBR member and Bovada user, but after how they cheated, lied, and misled, I am looking to move to another book.

They listed a live prop bet on their app for live betting between 2 NHL teams last night. I took under 1.5 goals in the game during what THEIR site showed as less than 13:00 remaining in the 3rd period of the game. This time/period info was on their live app at the time of my first, then second bets on the under 1.5 goals. Here I am thinking that it was 13 mins and counting in the 3rd period when I placed these bets based on what their live app was showing the whole time.

TURNS OUT their online live betting app was WRONG and the 3rd period had NOT even started yet! All the while their live online in game app showed it counting down under 12 under 11 minutes left in the 3rd period. Again, this was not accurate - the 3rd period had not even started. So I had placed my 2 under bets based off the time and period in their app - which was false and way incorrect.

Of course that changes things big time. I contacted their customer service to let them know that their site had a glitch and that those bets I made should be refunded as void. I would have made them if it really were under 13 mins left in the 3rd period - but I surely WOULD NOT have made them if I had known in reality that the 3rd period was not even underway yet.

Needless to say Bovada emailed me back some generic email that literally did not even address their website glitch or error - and said they wouldn't credit it.

This is absurd! EVERYONE stay away from Boavada live in-game betting -- The time and score are NOT accurate and you risk making a bet under false information.

Stay away from Bovada and their live betting - ESPECIALLY since they will not honor a mistake when they made a HUGE one.

Anyone help me out with a better book? 5 dimes?

I have been with Bovada over 10 years without a single incident. That is why this is on principle. I can't risk playing on a shoddy book that will not own up to its mistakes.

JJ - reccomend me a book that isn't located in the god damn crimea peninsula for christ's sake.

Here is their reply to me. Not going to own up to their website mistakes!

Everyone should really avoid using their live in game betting, as they clearly know they have a problem with it per below.

We've looked into your concern and we'd like to let you know that the wagers were correctly settled as 'Loss'.

Please keep in mind that the scoreboard is for informational purpose only as outlined in our rules below:

We regret to inform you that we're unable to credit you the risked amounts as these wagers were valid.

Our Customer Service Team is available at service@bovada.lv 24/7 to help if you need anything else.

    Thanks,

Live betting should never be used to blindly place a bet. Should have been watching the game or at least looked up on espn.com what the stats were. I'm guessing you took the NSH/VAN U1.5 that was posted during the 2nd INT. I agree their live score software should be accurate but it is YOUR job as a bettor to make sure you research what you are betting live. You clicking confirm bet or accept is signing your rights away, you agreeing that you've fully understood where the game is. That is where books protect themselves from those who are trying to take shots. They are a place to accept bets, not provide scores.. I saw the lines posted during the intermission, you would not have been offered that UNDER 1.5 line with PLUS money with 13 mins left in the game. Cmon man you knew that line was too good to be true.

Always do your due diligence and check a score provider if you can't get it on T.V. I have never played at Bovada but those are basically the rules where ever you play so your pretty shit out of luck if you think you won't get hit with this same rule elsewhere.

    Hi Dart,

What you've described sounds unfortunate but would be one of the quirks associated with live betting. If you'd like us to have a manager look into this as well, please submit all relevant details via http://www.sportsbookreview.com/sportsbook+complaint/

I am sorry for your experience, I have no opinion of whether bovada is a good or bad book

but in this case you are in the wrong

what were the odds when you bet, if odds for the under were -150 or better that would be an indicator that the period has not started yet

there is a chance here that you actually thought that they put out a bad line and you tried to take advantage of it, but got the short end of the stick because it wasnt their price that was wrong, but the time stated

in any case, this rule is the same at all books, no book takes responsibility for bets taken based on wrong information on their betting platform, it would open them up to huge losses every time the system has a small glitch, as well as thousands of customers trying to cheat them by claiming bad info every time they lose a live bet

Bovada refunded the two losing tickets in question.
