I was thinking about flying over to london to set up a bank account in order to be able to use Bookmakers that dont accept U.S players so i can do my sports arbitrage betting a lot more easily. Does any one think this possible?

I think a cool 5-10% a month return on my money will be worth flying over and setting this up.

You would not be able to sign up using a US residential address. If you some way of getting around this, you are in business.

Bear in mind though that the steps that all of us are going to take to prove our identities and particulars are only going to get tougher in future.

My experience in this area says its far from that easy. Its not the banking that is difficult, its the residency issues. Overcome that first.

There's also the IP issue, using a proxy can be dangerous in case other people use the same proxy.

They might accuse you of multi accounting.

I remember a complaint on SBR by someone who was accused of this and Justin said to the person that he was using one of the most used proxy's on SBR, he could see it in a second.

Most (but not all) sites would require either a passport or driving license.
