    Working in the industry
    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew how somebody goes about getting a job in this industry. Working in one of the offshore sportsbook sounds interesting. Does anyone have advice on how to go about this. I was also wondering where SBR is located?

Would an American who just went down to Costa Rica have much luck finding his way in? Anyways could ask a bunch of questions but its all basically the same thing. Thanks.

Why don't you send a resume to each of the sportsbooks you are interested in and see what happens.

If you do not like making money then go work for a sportsbook. Very few people inside even the biggest sportsbooks offshore make any kind of real money. If your a talented bookmaker with a resume you can make nice coin, and a few other guys, but besides that unless you own the place you will earn crap.

I don't know anyone who works directly with sportsbooks, but I know some guys that do live reports (football only) for the industry.

Once upon a time an American could go to Costa Rica and find work in a sportsbook and maybe work his way up. Now that doesn't happen, unless you know the owners. That's because there are plenty of Ticos who have been working and know their shit, and because the laws have gotten tighter that require Americans to have working papers--which aren't easy to get.

Someone posted a link to a job at Sports Interaction a few days back. Search craigslist's (Montreal) jobs section. You may also check out www.morrismohawk.ca for bodog.

max pay for someone with no exp is $1000 probably $1100

Prices have gone up down here its almost like Miami so you do the math and see if its worth it.

Some good feedback. I appreciate it. SSLP can you please be more specific as to what you mean by the $1000/$1100. Is that rent prices? And if so where exactly are you talking about?

I appreciate the link from rookie.

Hey jellybean. How do I prove that I can set nice lines? In an attempt to answer part of my own question does it start with me picking winners or does that not necessarily matter as much.

Anyways, thanks and good luck manana.

                  Peace.

There's no secret to it. Knock on some doors, send some emails, make some calls. Be persistent and show them what they're missing. Sell yourself!

                          Good luck!
