This post is mainly nitpicking, but I feel like getting some perspective so I’m going to throw it out there.
I planned on throwing some money into BetJam this year to be full prize eligible on their football pools.
So I’m scrolling around their site and see a $100 deposit/$100 FP bonus for people to test them out and decided that would be pretty perfect for my situation.
Unless I have funds in my MB account, I like to use credit cards for small deposits and have had zero problems at any sites. BetJam automatically direct you to contact CS for CC deposits, so I send an email saying I’m interested in their $100/$100FP bonus and would like to deposit with ****, and ask about the appropriate steps. They reply telling me to fill out the authorization form etc…
Issue #1: After I send documentation, they reply saying that since my **** was issued through CIBC they can’t accept it. They say that all 5 major Canadian banks do not allow their cards to be used for gambling. Since this is news to me, I respond asking where they heard that from and saying that I’ve made dozens of deposits with my CIBC **** without problem.( On the board, Scotiabank has been the only issuer to have a problem with gambling.) Then, puzzlingly enough, they respond saying they changed their mind and my card has been approved. Now, I’m glad they approved the card and all, but they didn’t tell me how they got the impression any bank but Scotia rejects CC deposits. Why the hell did they completely change their tune after a simple email from me? Were they being honest in their reason for why they initially rejected it?
Issue #2: With the card approved, I deposit the $100. I send an email asking that the bonus I had previously inquired about be entered into my account. Their response… “Credit Card deposits are not eligible for bonuses”. I check their bonus page(betjamaica.com/asi/WPBonuses.asp), and sure enough, under their regular 20% cash bonus offer, it lists that credit card deposits are not eligible for bonuses. However, under the section I read listing the $100/$100FP bonus, this information is not listed. In the “Important Notes” section which I had also read, it mentions nothing about certain methods of deposit not being eligible.
The fact that the only place the policy is listed is under a separate bonus offer bothers me slightly. But I’m more bothered by the fact that I told them I wanted the bonus and was going to be depositing via credit card, and they said nothing to warn me I wouldn’t be eligible.
It’s a $100 FP, so in the end it doesn’t really matter(though I'm still of the size where it's not completely irrelevant to me either), but the email exchanges were surprising to me in their lack of completeness. I’m interested to hear if I’m just being a douche or if this actually represents poor CS.
